My roommate and I just played through Chrono Trigger for the first time. What a fucking game

Anybody play soccer games here?

I've been buying FIFA for about 6 years now and I'm pretty tired of it...however I'm addicted. I live in Germany and have season tickets for Hertha Berlin, so I'm attached to them and want to play soccer games. This year I decided to buy PES 2018 and I have the 10 hr. trial of FIFA18. There are good and bad things about both games, which makes both turn out to be annoying as shit.

After 6 years of FIFA, it took me a few games to enjoy PES and now I prefer it as it plays a bit more random and true to life. I know how to exploit FIFA and most games against AI seem to be quite similar. So PES plays better, but man are there a lot of annoyances or down right terrible aspects. The commentating is some of the worst commentating of any sports game in recent memory. Repetitive lines, quiet for long periods of time and grows stale after two games. The menus are awful and look like PES when it was Winning 11 over 10 years ago. The presentation is outdated and adds nothing to the game. Other complaints are there's no Bundesliga, or even an opportunity to customize and create players/teams for the Bundesliga. There are little to no fouls ever given regardless of how hard you barrel into a player. There's also only about 30 seconds of stoppage time for halves, but in real life it's usually 2-4+ minutes. Everything else feels better though. The defense, the multiple ways to score, the way the players run and interact with the ball.

All the things that I dislike PES for, FIFA does well or extremely well. But my problem is that I don't know what to play. The game that looks and feels better, or the game that plays better?

Also I bought FIFA for the Switch. When it's plugged into the TV it's a pretty poor version of the game. It's comparable when it comes to gameplay, but there are a few oddities only found in the Switch version. Regardless, it's going to be great playing it on the airplane!

 

I played a lot of FIFA 03 and 04 but at some point the series became too complicated to me. I played some 11 but I wasn't great at it. I don't actually like watching soccer and I don't like the culture around it (I live in the Netherlands and lived in Germany so I'm used to it) but I do think it's the best team sport when it comes to turning it into a game.

 

FIFA’s popularity here in the US blows my mind sometimes. Like it’s one of the top selling games but soccer/football isn’t even in the top five most popular sports nationwide.

 

Because the games are good. I'd also point out that people watch it less in the USvbecause you'd have to watch it at inconvenient times if you want to see actual high level soccer. It's why most Europeans don't watch basketball even though they like it in theory.

 

Yeah, getting up early to watch Premier League (league I follow) matches is a drag at times

I happen to like basketball and baseball but watching it is such a pain and so expensive that I just can't. I don't particularly like games made out of them though, unless we're talking NBA Jam.

 

Just finished Life is Strange and I am hurting

 

I just bought resident evil 4 (again) because it was on sale on PS4 and I really wanted to play it. I’ve bought this game so many damn times lol. I’ll probably buy it again if it ever comes to switch just to have a version I can play anywhere.

This game is still perfect.

 

Nope, I keep forgetting it's out to be honest. I love the series though and it gets better with each game. Need to pick it up..

 

I go to this lounge every Sunday to watch football games and they watch the Premier League before and let me just say those people get hype as heck at like 6 am. I am shook.

 

It was weird going to a bar about 10/11am in America to watch some of the football when I went NY with my two brothers... cool but definitely weird.

 

Some Europeans get up at 3AM to watch American sports, now that feels weird

 

I love having my weekend morning soccer. Don’t know how much I would if I was on the west coast though.

 

I played FIFA every year from 1996 up until 2016, it has been THE legendary game franchise ever since I was 7 or 8 years old, but I switched to PES 16 and haven't looked back. It's just way, way better IMO - my brother downloads all this stuff online, puts it on a memory stick and uploads it so we can have Bundesliga, correct team names, more leagues etc etc. FIFA just got progressively worse from 2011 impo and PES is a breath of fresh air - so long as the commentary is turned off!!! lol

I need a cheap ps4 game to hold me over until Black Friday. Gonna head to gamestop today, thinking either Doom, Hitman or Deadpool. Any suggestions?
