Alrighty after 3 dozen listens, I'm attempting a song ranking. In ascending order:

10. Stay
9. Tunnel Vision
8. Lustration
7. At Night It Gets Worse
6. Never Tell A Soul
5. Flesh And Bone
4. The Hex
3. Rites Of Investiture
2. Premonition Of The Hex
1. The Amulet

Something like that.

 

This album is a bit boring to me. Granted I've only listened once full time trough and 2 other half way through listens. Both half listen times I just wasn't feeling it and wanted to listen to something else. I can't think of a way to describe how one song is different than the other as it blended together so much.

I love this band so I will give it more chances.

 

Flesh and Bone, Stay, The Amulet are my top 3 probably

 

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks Stay is their least favorite.

 

Stay is stuck in my head constantly

 

I like how stay starts with that sick riff and you think it’s going to be this really dark proggy thing and then it immediately modulates to major

 

Stay is one of the very best here

 

I love Stay, but it might be my least favorite as well.

 

i think im with you on this. maaaaybe my least fav on here. or Tunnel Vision. still like them a lot tho

 

The Hex is my least favorite. That's the one that definitely grabs me the least

 

i think stay has their best intro since BSN, one of my favorite choruses too. the first 10 seconds get me so pumped.

 

"Flesh and Bone" has instantly become the most overrated song of their career in my book, I think. First record I can remember where everyone is heaping praise on one of my least favorites. Also, "Stay" and "Hex" are fantastic.

 

Strange take

 

Flesh and bone also moving to the bottom for me, which is not saying much at all as I think every song is absolutely phenomenal, I just think it's not as fascinating as the others.

 

Stand by this album being the most consistent. Difference between favorite and least is not much.

 

100% agreement, and it even reaches the highs of previous albums.

In a month I will be able to say that this is their best album, and whether or not it shares that place with OLG

 

Happens to be my favorite song on the whole album. Such an interesting melody from Anthony.

3 through 6 get fuzzy. There's 6 or 7 pretty perfect tracks on this thing

still loving the album. flows really well and I'm not getting tired of it

 

I can tier them, not rank tho.

Even that was hard because songs serve such different purposes.

 

I think Flesh and Bone is the perfect set up/appetizer for the amazing closing track - they work so well together

 

I just found out that this is a thing. As someone who only really likes their second, third and kinda fourth records, am I gonna dig this?

 

Absolutely; the way that Flesh and Bone is so laid back makes the impact of the Amulet feel like the greatest thing ever. Hard to put in words, but for some reason, "accomplished" comes to mind. Weird.

And bless Aarong Rodgers for defeating the dumbass cowboys.

 

its more atmospheric like albums one and two but really it's its own thing
