I would be right with you on "Bought A Bride", if it were simply this version. This is one of the best things Jesse's ever done. I wish they'd kept it this way.

Sink & Bought A Bride. Cannot stand Gasoline hah. I generally skip around on Daisy. I know that it drives people nuts haha. TDAG is really the only one I sit and listen to entirely in order.

 

That version of Bought a Bride is the same, but just acoustic.... not hearing a huge difference in song layout or anything

 

That's what I mean, it should have just been Jesse and a guitar. The contrast in the second verse is heavier than anything in the studio version.

 

Oooooooh, gotcha. I way prefer the full band version, but am always into acoustic takes/version existing as well

 

At The bottom live in studio is better than the album version.

Ive read that some ppl think Black Honey sounds like At The Bottom I dont hear it. Black Honey is an awesome track. Im sooo ready for the new Thrice record. AOTY contender for sure.

 

God, I want to hear it so bad. I've been saving all my favorite bands' new music for after I move in a few months, because I want to associate them with somewhere that doesn't repulse me. So far, I have Explosions, Damien Rice, Thrice, Deftones, and Cloudkicker.

I still can't figure out if I don't really care for the album version because I just don't like it, or because I'm always disappointed that it isn't acoustic, haha. I suspect it's a little of both.

 

Favorite Daisy songs: Vices, Daisy, Noro, You Stole

I want to love Sink but the lyrics in the bridge are sooooo cringe worthy.

 

For me its Definitely Vices, At The Bottom, You Stole and Sink

 

Thinking about that version of Bought a Bride and just the various ways they have messed with songs over the years, and then wondering who even knows what they've done to these songs that we haven't heard...

what if they came out with an album filled with reworked versions of their songs, whether it was just simple things like Bought a Bride with more of an acoustic sound that we have from that live video? I think that would be super cool. Maybe they could find a way to make some of the older songs more enjoyable for them to play haha.

 

Yeah that would be great. The Classic Crime did it and it was a solid release.

That first snare drop in "Bought A Bride" right before Jesse starts screaming gets me every time.

Its like that dog in the disney movie "Up" responding to seeing a squirrel. Immediate, laser focus. haha.

 

Bought A Bride is one of their most underrated songs. Love Garrett's bass playing on that track.

 

Bought a Bride is definitely my all time favorite Brand New song (fight me). The Daisy Sessions version is amazing, because of the extra verse at the end. I would love to see them tack it on at the end of the full band version.

 

Daisy is pretty much a perfect album for me. I'd choose Gasoline, Daisy, and Vices. I also would say that Sink is up there in terms of songs played live.

 

The stretch of Sink, Bought A Bride, and Daisy is, without a doubt, my favorite part of the album.

 

Daisy is Brand New's best album by far. Only one I think is great from start to finish.

 

Jesus what a bold statement. haha. I love Daisy, but I wouldn't go that far. Regardless, it's cool that so many people can latch onto a different album from them. You don't see that with every band.

 

Hahaha, I try to be bold. Seriously though, listening to Daisy now and I can't believe this is the hated Brand New album.

 

I'm kinda bummed because I doubt we'll ever get another song as hard as Vices again.

 

This conversation made me jam Daisy this afternoon.

Love that album, as a whole, but that second half is so good.

Vices is my favorite song on Daisy though.

 

Glad to see some love for Bought a Bride. I'm not a huge fan of the lyrics on Daisy but "If everyone's a structure/Where their own savior sits/Then I'm a little red house/And no one's living in it" is one of my favorite lines.

 

I think Mene has some of Jesse's best lyrics.

 

Mene is pretty dope all around.
