    Someday I’ll find me Prestigious

I have a presale code that I won't be using. Will probably give it away in here sometime this weekend. Just trying to think of a fair way to do it.

I don't ever want to see Tom in blink again. There is not a more stale songwriter on earth right now.

    Sleekest of beaks. So Good.

Me either, I just feel so done with Tom and all his projects don't interest me one bit.

I won't respond to the earlier parts too much, as I think you're right, parts of it are just semantics. E.g. when I say "progression", I mean something different than what they've put out previously and not standing still.

The last part though: when I say potential, I mean that they put out an album that I will keep coming back to. They're not going to put out a garbage album, that much is obvious, but they can very easily put out an album that is distinctly average and not many people re-visit when they listen to Blink. Circa Survive, for example, put out Violent Waves, which I almost never listen to because it was a very average and forgettable album, and just felt like they'd created an album that was like an average version of everything they'd put out previously. That band are one of my favourites though, and they followed it up with an album that I really like.

At this point in the guys in Blink's careers it would be very easy to put out an album that doesn't fulfill the potential that's there. You've probably noticed as well - I'm not mentioning any particular styles, and that's because I don't care what it's like, I just want it to be good, as we all do. I think we probably agree on most of what you've said anyway. My original point was just that I hope that they don't put out an album that is 'perfectly' okay, but completely forgettable because it's like an average version of things they've done before. The initial reason it came about anyway was because I was expecting more influence from Matt, but BTD sounds to me like Matt's written the guitar part with Tom's previous Blink output very much in mind.

shower thoughts. neighborhoods is the underappreciated/misunderstood/confusing/messy blink album that will never have a cult following like weezer has with pinkerton or fob has with folie. not saying it's as good as those albums but people usually jump on the underappreciated bandwagon asap (hipsters). guess blink fans are just more...honest?

Don't recreate the scene, or reinvent the meanings Supporter

I understand the point you are trying to make, and agree for the most part. However, I don't think it's that we misunderstand Neighborhoods at all. We know very well what is, and that's a hodge podge record that it is very disjointed and lacking energy, punch, and that Blink feeling. Some of that is production. Some of that is the environment in which the songs were created. And lastly, some of that has to do with going in a particular stylistic direction. If you like Tom's spacey and large landscapes, you will most likely enjoy the album. If you are more of a classic Blink fan, than it's really hard to connect with the album in any meaningful way. That's not to say some of the songs were good and had potential.

No offense to myself or anyone else on this thread, but intense Blink fans are more straightforward than other types of fans. Generally, there are not too many "levels" within Blink's music and therefore it lends itself to reviews that can almost be as simple as clicking a "like" or "dislike" button. Very little room for gray area.

Fun fact: Tom has ruined the word "landscapes" for me. Even when used by intelligent musicians and/or music critics. Just gives me the shivers.

I'm still only at 18 hours since ordering with no code, I'm trying to hold back worrying too much before 24 hours hits. I feel like a fucking crazy person literally counting down hours. Lol, only for music.

Those songs are in no way similar except that Mark sings on both of them. That is it.

idk, I like neighborhoods and dogs eating dogs, i think tom's indulgent tendencies are tempered by mark in a really interesting way and that tom's sense of atmosphere adds a lot to mark's songs, and when each is on their own an absence is felt, and they seem to require each other to make a consistent record. (of course skiba could be a missing link here re: the new one, looking forward to seeing how that works out). i think at least half of the dream walker would've been an awesome blink record

I have been getting a real Alk3 vibe from the BTD verse, esp Matts.
