That's really all I'm worried about. I don't mind if it takes longer. I just want peace of mind that I'll have it before Monday

This! That's my main concern, emails can get lost just like real mail. I wonder what the order of people getting codes is, my friend did his preorder after me and he got his code. I have not yet

  5. They'll be sent out in chunks depending on the system, they gotta do it that way to avoid being marked as a spammer by Gmail and stuff like that. Probably no real order to how it goes out.

Absolutely! I understand the concern. Most of this thread shared it as well. It comes with the anxiety of a refreshing Blink reboot. I would tell you that if you ordered today, you should expect a code sometime tomorrow, but definitely before the 10am pre-sale on Monday!

Considering flying over from Ireland for the San Fran & LA Shows! Would I be able to use the Pre-Sale Code twice?

I'm not entirely sure that anyone really knows the answer to this question yet unfortunately.

    Hopefully.

Something tells me no, but it also looks like the LA show isnt going on sale the same time as the other shows. I'm not finding a ticketmaster listing for it.

I'm definitely under no impression that Blink are original or such - I mean, most music is heavily influenced, and pop punk specifically covers a very small spectrum from a musical perspective, so that's definitely not where I'm coming from. I'm more getting at the fact the song feels like a song that is trying to be something purposely, i.e. they've decided that they want to put out a song that sounds like old stuff. The Untitled album was great for a number of reasons, not least because it was a progression from previous material, which feels (at least I think it does) as if that would have come more from Tom's will than Mark's.

I don't know. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I feel like they're holding back, and maybe Tom's got a point. We can say what we want about Tom, but he does have artistic integrity, in that he is so passionate about what he's doing and he's doing what he enjoys. The fact the response to his output is generally not overwhelming kind of reflects that too. Here's a guy who could easily re-join one of the biggest bands around and make a crap load in the process, but he wants to take some risks with it if he does, and if he can't do that then he'd rather put his effort into something that he's in to.

That said, I hope I enjoy the album too. I just want them to fulfil their potential, y'know. The three of them are really talented.

I think that there's a lot of little flourishes in the song that show that they're progressing. The bridge is a great example of that.

Looks like black 180g vinyl is gone from the store. White is up by itself. Really hope I didn't miss out on the black.

Seeing a lot for hate for DED on here. I thought it was a great little follow up that sounded a lot less disjointed than Neighborhoods and a more natural follow up from Untitled.

Agreed. I thought DED was great and the right direction for the band to go in (minus that Yelawolf verse).

Anyone else aggravated by the way they're updating the preorder sale? I.e. offering the drum heads with no indication of if and when it would sell out, selling the same package without the drum heads for the same price, white variants randomly showing up, zero pressing info etc.

I wouldn't say that they haven't changed or evolved. Untitled and Neighbourhoods are fairly different to everything before that thematically and musically (as much as it can be anyway).

Having pre-ordered the US bundle, but living in the UK which doesn't have tour dates, this has left me with a code.

I highly doubt I'll be making a trip over to the US for the shows... If anyone wants a code, drop me a PM.

  18. I hate to start another setlist discussion/list comparison thing, but what do you think the setlists on the upcoming tour will be like?

personally, i can't imagine it looking too different than what it's been the last few years. they'll throw in "bored to death" and then maybe 2 or 3 of the shorter songs from the new album.

Surely not? The tour is for the album, so surely they'll play a good chunk of it?

    I am a haunted house. I'm superstitious.

You're probably right on this one. One thing I'm looking for, since they seem to be rehearsing a lot more this time, are extended instrumental parts. Longer outros, different arrangements on bridges, a cool intro for the show. I really like bands that work on those things, instead of just playing the studio versions of songs like they're supposed to.

I wonder if with the longer time with Matt they change some of the older songs a bit more to suit his playing style and voice.

You think they'll stick to mostly greatest hits? I think with Tom out of the picture well see a good mix of California, greatest hits and deeper cuts

I'd expect BTD + 2-3 other songs off of California in the set list.

  24. Some good new info here, not sure if it was shared yet:

Blink-182 Celebrate Rebirth at Goofy L.A. Karaoke Bash | Rolling Stone

This week, the track "Bored to Death" was released as a first hint at the sound of the new album. Within the band's traditional pop-punk sound were some noticeably modern textures and beats, owing something to Barker's work outside the band. "John would be like, 'Trav, do some of that weird shit you play with EDM or rap artists.' And I'd be like, 'OK,'" Barker says, as Hoppus cracks up. "So there's drum 'n' bass in the verses of 'Bored to Death,' but it's in a rock song, so it's kind of masked. There's stuff like that all over the album."

"That makes it interesting for me," Barker adds, "but I never try to force that stuff into this project because I understand the difference between what I do by myself and what I do in Blink."

Hoppus says the band embraced modern recording techniques on California "but tried to keep an old-school ethos." While he describes "Bored to Death" as representative of the album, he calls the songs wide-ranging, with the modern balanced by classic anthemic choruses and soaring guitars.

"It goes in a lot of different directions," says Hoppus. "We have some songs that sound like Blink-182 from 1999. ... We have some songs that are like nothing we have ever done before. We have a ballad called 'Home Is Such a Lonely Place' that has clean arpeggiated finger-picking guitars with strings underneath it. We have super-fast late-Nineties-punk-rock-sounding songs. ... We tried to capture the energy and not worry so much about all the knobs."

Random question, but does Travis always have his friends create the album art?

Everything since Untitled has been pretty bad from an artwork perspective. Just looked through their albums on iTunes and realized Neighborhoods, DED and the California covers are pretty lackluster.

Glad the music is good though ;)

Edit - I mean, whoever created the black background and red letters on California made it look WAY better than the current cover ha.
