The only one of those bands I liked was A Static Lullaby, and I will die on the hill that Faso Latido was good

I didn't realise AA! got that big in the US (they were tiny here in the uk). I just remembered them as the crabcore band everyone took the piss out off.

My mates band supported them on the uk tour for the self titled album and I went along not knowing anything other than Stickly Stickly and I came away from the gig really surprised by how much I enjoyed them. I never really got into them on record though. I met a few of them too and they seemed like real nice guys.

I never really checked out their later stuff but And Don't Forget To Breath was great. The Shooting Star That Destroyed Us was such a jam.

Ive whined about it before, but I turned on my TV and it had been left on MTV classic and new found glory was playing and jfc I will never understand how anyone stands that voice. Its like jamming a knife in my ears. This sounds hyperbolic but i swear it is not!!!! Idk how ppl can stand an entire album of that. I don't expect everyone to be Whitney Houston but idek how you'd have that voice and make the decision to be a singer like honestly I'm lost.

The metalcore/Risecore wormhole has been opened, and there's no way I'm staying away from this discussion. For a while I was only allowed to listen christian bands, so I got around that by listening to As I Lay Dying, Underoath, TDWP, etc. Eventually they blended together for my parents and they gave up. I stanned so hard for In Fear and Faith, Of Machines (who young me thought were underrated in the scene), and Decoder/Lead Hands.

Emarosa was top five favorite band of mine for years until the hiatus cooled me off on them. TAILOREDDDD SHEEEEEEETS.

Of Machines is still underrated; AIEWHIP is one of the best things to come out of that scene. Shame their singer turned out to be an absolute douche mountain.

All the talk of 00's bands last night made me go on a listening binge when I really shouldn't have. I ended up going to bed well late considering I had to be up at 5 this morning for work, I think I had about 3 and a half to 4 hours sleep in the end. I've got to drive 4 hours after work today as well, not the wisest of decisions by me.

To get this back to unpopular opinions, I think Chase This Light might be my favourite Jimmy Eat World album now.

It might just be because I've listened to it a lot recently with it being 10 years old this year why it’s jumped to the top of my ranking but god damn I love the pop sensibilities the incorporated into that album. It probably helps I've got so many fond memories attched to this album too.

The Butch Vig production on it is top notch too and I think they really benefited from having him involved on it.

    Re: Mid-00s metalcore discussion.

The first two Haste the Day records are among some of the best melodic metalcore albums ever put out...a lot of that was probably due to Jimmy Ryan being an unfuckwithable vocalist. After he left the band and Keech joined, they were just mediocre.

I honestly couldn't tell you a single song from them. That's why I was more surprised by the "punk" part.
