He clearly doesn't want this song out, but Sony went over his head. Luke has got to be the main reason she's not allowed to release music.

 

I love the idea that Dr. Luke is kinda having a temper tantrum with steam coming out of his ears. Not as big a fan of the assault stuff though

 

Just happened across this video - I know this is a selfish ask, but is anyone able to give it a watch & offer some critiques of what she's saying? I get suspicious when the comment sections seem to be full of "meninist" types.

 

I'd love to see a well informed debate between her and someone of the opposition. It's an interesting take to say the least.

 

She really simplifies every issue, I hate when someone has a really good tone and is well informed with something I wildly disagree with like this

 

I happened across it because "disposable" is the perfect word that sums me up at present. I'm beginning to feel depressed again, and with no friends, a lackluster job, no money, no house etc. etc. I just feel I offer nothing to anyone; the planet doesn't need me & wouldn't miss me.
TBPH I did connect with a lot of what she said (despite seeing instances where she "glossed over" certain things in order to make her point better) - do you think it is my current mindset that allows me to connect, and if I wasn't feeling so useless in life I could perhaps find obvious fault with this?

 

Her whole argument is rooted in true things exaggerated to a high degree, while also ignoring a ton of contradicting viewpoints to make her point seem like a universal fact when everything is much, much more nuanced than that. If society values women in a lifeboat, why is sexual assault routinely covered up? Why are women way more likely to get murdered, and those murders only covered in the news for white women? There are tons of holes in her simplistic approach, but it is sure to appeal to MRA types angry at women for wanting equality, and people feeling down like yourself when your brain is looking for someone to blame (Blame women! they are entitled and holding you back! be angry at and resent them and their fight for equality!). Its a simple trick and I'm glad you're at least well enough to see through it somewhat. Hoping you can be well man, here if you need to talk

 

Thanks man, but I just want to make it clear that I do not blame "women" for my current problems - it's (almost) the exact opposite. Every issue I have can be traced back to the supposed role that the male is supposed to fulfil in society - a provider, a protector, strong social status/standing, strong both physically & emotionally etc. - I get upset when I don't match those expectations because I buy into those gender roles too. There are total losers I know of that are able to be happy with having no job, living with parents & even have fathered a child that they literally want nothing to do with, yet they can be happy? I literally do not understand how they can be?

Women & dating don't even come into it for me because I feel I have nothing to even offer one based on my perceived failures. My only gripe would be towards people who keep those gender roles alive, whatever their gender (but mostly Alpha bros who force it so much even when its not 'natural' to them!)

 

This is mostly nonsense. The examples she uses to demonstrate the protection and value of women is tethered to this idea of "women-as-property". It is not at all related to the view that they are a human, therefore, they are valuable. You value your PlayStation, you don't view it as equal. Further, it completely erases the experiences of women of color. In her understanding, white women are the stand-in for all women; however, it does not take into consideration how black women, for example, have historically been subjected to sexual violence, other forms of violent assault, which end in murder, and so on and so forth. All of this occurs at higher rates than their white counterparts, so I doubt they would view themselves as somehow protected. In any case, what one finds with this woman is someone who has internalized dominant patriarchal values, along with white supremacist understandings of what it means to be a woman, i.e., a white woman, one who cannot differentiate between the maintenance of property and caring for someone as their equal.

 

Is she trying to say that the awful things that happen to women elsewhere in the world, and their lack of freedom, is because women are valued more...? I'm seriously confused...
