Finally got around to starting this last night. 2 episodes in and I'm definitely very intrigued. Not quite hooked/all in yet but I'm looking forward to continuing.

 

Give it until season 2. The first season is the weakest of the three and a lot of people stop watching way too early.

 

Season 1 is still phenomenal though, the show just somehow got even better

 

Oh yeah I'm definitely not saying it's bad or anything. I'm excited to keep watching. The premise is really intriguing.

 

S2 > S1 > S3

 

Yeah-- I'm just getting through the first half of season 2. So far it's definitely widened its perspective and that allows for more interesting storytelling. There are some moments that have me laughing out loud at how ridiculous it is, like Laury beating up her publisher but I mostly let them slide

 

no need to rank, they are all 3 excellent seasons of television that we were lucky to have been able to view

i didn't like 1 at all and thought 2 was overhyped as hell

3 ruled

 

I think all three seasons are way overrated

(Jk I love this show and it physically hurt to type that)

 

I couldn't rank the seasons if I wanted to, which I don't

But it was all amazing. I really should start a rewatch soon.

I honestly can't say I prefer one season over the other. THey all brought different ideas and things to the table that were so good. I guess I could say I liked 3 slightly less than 1 or 2, but that's only because of the part of me that wanted answers for some things that just never got explained and that I knew all along probably wouldn't be...and even though I know that isn't the point of the show, it still nags me in the back of my mind haha. But 3 was still fantastic.

 

I think 2 was the clear cut above the rest... maybe it was because it was soooooo much better than the first and many viewers weren't expecting it. Three was great too, don't get me wrong, but two was the season that really took the show into the next stratosphere.

Season 1 is just too different from 2/3...and in a way, they feel like different shows to me. it's clear that their were plans for other characters that got written off in the later seasons. I find it hard to believe that they ever thought the show was going to end with Kevin and Nora, and that Kevin's kids would be ridiculously irrelevant.

Season 1 felt like a bunch of ideas, some of them kinda 'too obvious', with Damon kinda seeing what works and doesn't. The stuff with Kevin's daughters and the teens... that's something you expect a show like this to do and it sucked. Damon learned fast that you don't need a 'teen' perspective. The mayor character, im sure, was going to play a bigger part as well.

 

Yeah, I think you're largely right on. Season 1 was very good by the end, but it started out with such a different tone than where they ended up. The kids are a perfect example of everything wrong with the early episodes of the show - while the premise never gets more believable, removing the focus from them was an incredibly effective way to make the show feel less fake, for lack of a better word.

It all kind of lines up - the directorial change, the increased focus on Nora Durst, essentially writing off all young characters that weren't the Garveys and even toning down the use of Jill and Tommy - the shift between the first and second half of season 1 was huge.

 

I feel like I've seen this ranking most of all others

Ahhhh I'm scared to come into this thread cause of spoilers but I'm on season 1 episode 7 and this show just keeps getting better and better!!

 

Watched season 1 episode 4 yesterday and I’m less sure of this show now :/

Gonna at least finish the season though

Season 1 haha. Just realized I missed typing that. It was the episode where the baby Jesus doll got stolen.
