Had to listen to the Postal Service 3 times today go figure.

 

Yeah that's one where the release of the album didn't align with my mood/temperament at the time. I liked it a lot, but I really got into it later in the year.

 

I totally get that! I think since I was seeing him the month after and went through a miserable breakup literally days after it came out I was instantly hooked

 

Bjork- Homogenic is another really good fall record

 

Pianios Become the Teeth, Moving Mountains, La Dispute, and Thursday all have become fall staples.

Also...I have never listened to American Football, no matter how many times I have seen people here suggest them.

Edit: Check out Owen for fall music. Waaaay better than anything AF.

 

Pianos and MovMou are clear choices, as are the first few Lydia records. It may just be my association but Dead Poetic's New Medicines screams autumn to me. Always listen to it going home for fall break, it's a scenic, heavily wooded drive and it's perfect.

 

I can second so many of these mentioned.

Owen is great fall music. So is Moving Mountains' self-titled, Pianos Become the Teeth's Keep You, Thursday's War All the Time and A City By the Light Divided, Soco's North, Death Cab's Plans and Transatlanticism, TDAG and Daisy of course, Blink's Self-Untitled, Gaslight Anthem's The '59 Sound and Get Hurt, the last 3 Yellowcard records, Caspian's Dust and Disquiet, Coheed's IKSOSE:3, anything by Cymbals Eat Guitars, The Get Up Kids' On a Wire, most JEW records, any Kevin Devine record, any Manchester Orchestra record, The Menzingers' OTIP and Rented World, any mWY record, Straylight Run, Noah Gundersen, TWIABP, You Blew It!

 

Forgot about The Appleseed Cast as well

 

Mandolin Orange too!! They're like a more twangy version of The Weepies (also great fall music)

Animal Flag is so underrated. "Sensation" is one of the best songs of the last 5 years.
