leftovers was a prestige HBO show that got loads of critical acclaim, it's no different than like a westworld (other than viewership)

 

It's much more similar to the wire though, which only ever received 2 nominations after 5 years and was also watched by no one at its time.

 

Viewership is extremely important for these things, voters aren't going to vote for a show they don't watch.

 

So you haven't seen 40% of the options for Best Drama and just assume they're 10 times "worse" than The Leftovers?

The Leftovers would easily be my favorite out of all the shows nominated, but The Crown and This Is Us are pretty good. House of Cards is the weakest drama nominated imo.

I throw it in a category like Billions or Shameless. Not really comparable to "prestige" dramas or whatever.

House of Cards is the dumbest and worst show that I've watched every episode of.

For me, that's OITNB. This newest season was eye opening to how bad the writing got.

I watched this whole series in the past couple weeks and besides some elements of season one, I loved all of it.

 

Just finished season one. Enjoying the show a lot. I'll say that it tends to value literary/thematic elements over plot sometimes, but that doesn't matter to me so much. I'm not as worried as to why or how The Departure happened but more so what it means for individual characters and what they're insinuating about human nature. Justin Theroux's acting is pretty great throughout, though he reminds me of Jon Snow from GOT sometimes considering how damn angsty he is lol. Other than that, i'm very intrigued by the more dreamy elements sprinkled throughout like Wayne's (thus far) unexplained death in the bathroom, the whole dog storyline, etc...

 

You're the prime viewer for the next 2 seasons... :)
