Saves The Day Band • Page 21

  1. Ooo I saw them right after In Reverie with Taking Back Sunday, it was good times. Also saw them right after STA dropped, also an equal good time.

I missed them on their tour with IIOI a few years ago and I do regret that.

I get scared that STD days are numbered. I know they're all doing their own thing, but sheesh it's been so long, except for some occasional festival shows. There hasn't been any word of going into the studio. Chris has been a quiet dude on his social media accounts in terms of anything new (music, tour, yada).
    Can someone fill us in?

Valid concerns. In an interview about a month ago, Arun said that the new Saves album is in the works. Other than that, not too sure.

I mean, they've had a timeline for new music for seems like years that doesn't have a new album come out til about next yearish. They've been upfront, it's just a long timeline

  5. I really regret getting into this band super late, like last year. I really wished I liked as I do now when I went to Where's The Band. I totally would have appreciated Chris a lot more.

Never too late! Welcome to the club with the best fellow fans.

  7. It's funny because my girlfriend absolutely loves them, she would try to get me into them but I didn't bother. She would always say how could I love Trio so much but not like Saves aha.

Maybe they'll pull a Brand New and release an album on a random day soon.

Weird show. Even by spaceman Conely standards, weird show. Setlist was killer- but he was fucking up lyrics all over, and clearly more out of it than usual. They started playing "Drag in D Flat" which I was thrilled about... but they never even got into it. By that I mean the band played the opening bars, Chris started soloing, then he knocked over his mic stand and laid down on the stage, then got up and leaned on the bass player for a minute or two, then solo'd a bit more, then they stopped. Never even sang a word. And yeah he talked a bunch about space and planets and love and asking if the promoter will allow them to play forever and shit but it got old pretty quick.

I love this band, but this was an awkward fucking show and why they were booked for a Chicago Bears cook out block party thing is beyond me.

Oh also he said this was the last show they were doing before heading into the studio for make a new record. Super tough for me to be jazzed about anything Saves the Day related at this point though.

Tbh if I knew about that show beforehand, I probably would have tried hard to go, but now I'm kind of glad I didn't.

Yeah I was super excited about it before hand, but was kind of worried something like this might happen. The last time I saw STD was when they did that anniversary tour thing with Say Anything, and he was super weird then too. At that show during the middle of a song he went back and lit some incense sticks on one of his amps and then solo'd (mostly just letting feedback ring out) for 10-15 minutes. I didn't think he could do anything more annoying than that, but he topped it last night.

Not really sure how to feel here. If it's substance abuse, then of course it's sad and I hope he gets help and gets better. But maybe it isn't? That might just be how he is now? At least from what I saw, the band didn't seem super concerned by what was going on. (I didn't stay til the end though, so maybe that changed.)

I mean, I'd rather Saves didn't turn into a psychedelic jam band, but if that's what they wanna do then ya know... cool. Maybe just don't book any more football themed shows with Lucky Boys Confusion.

yeah, I should clarify if it actually is substance abuse this is obviously no laughing matter and I hope he gets the appropriate assistance.

I guess it just seems like from his twitter account and his recent persona that my man just enjoys partaking in some doobage which no harm no foul so I was more laughing at the spaceman antics

I was there, and I'll just say I was very confused and a little concerned. At first I definitely was assuming it was just Chris being Chris, but it did get a little weird. It seemed like he was really struggling to remember the words and would stop singing a lot.

The jamming was weird because I know that they do jam at their shows, but it really did seem more to be covering for Chris until he was able to play than actual jamming. Like others said they would be going at it for a little and Chris would just kind of hop in and play a little something and then stop and shout something weird.

The band didn't seem concerned at all by him though, even when he fell over and took the mic stand with him. I'd think even at that point a stage crew person would run out to try to set things back up.

He also kept saying things like "you guys don't want to talk to us" and whatnot, so I wasn't sure if he was annoyed by the crowd not being that enthusiastic and that was part of it, or if they knew that since it was a free show there were probably a lot of people just trying to hear At Your Funeral so they were kind of saying fuck you?

Also worth noting Arun did make a mention about there being free beer before the show, so they were all feeling good. Maybe they were all just hammered?

I guess I was already a little worried about Chris based on his Twitter, and this was basically his weird twitter moments come to life. Hopefully everything is ok. I just feel confused.

Sounds like he was on acid or shrooms, but he also just might not give a shit anymore, or wanted to mess with the non-fans who showed up.

Props to Arun and Rodrigo for staying in the band with him this long....does not seem like easy band to be in.
