Just heard Bored To Death on Toronto's biggest rock radio station! They talked a little bit about it and called it the "first new song without Tom DeLonge and that guy from that Alkaline Trio band."

Merch store is running pretty slow for me now.

 

There is audio from one of the shows that were a part of the recording, on YouTube. The only thing that they really used from the shows were the jokes between songs. The songs sounded almost completely different live, especially their voices.

Funny how Tom got crucified for "Golden Showers in the Golden State" on here.....but everyone like "LOL I love 'Built A Pool'" . SMH

I think it is because there is a difference between something naturally funny and someone (Tom) trying too hard to be funny

yeah for a band that's done "mothers day", "fuck a dog", "grandpa song" or happy holidays you bastard, pools is a pretty mild song when it comes to being offensive. lol

They're not similar situations. One is a quick 15-second "song," the other is a full length song that's vulgar just to be vulgar. There's nothing witty in it. And it felt like a desperate attempt by Tom because he was pushing back so much against that type of stuff only to randomly do it on a solo EP.

 

ugh i'm STILL listening to bored to death. i think it fits well in their discography. like myself and others have said, the verses definitely have a +44 vibe because of the vocal effects, but the chorus and bridge (ESPECIALLY THAT FUCKING BRIDGE!) definitely sound like blink. love love love. i wish the lyrics were better but w/e.

 

I'm sure it will be added. I'm planning to use the Chicago presale, too.

 

Built a Pool is a genuine joke song of them just goofing around and having fun and it's only 16 seconds long. Golden showers is a full length song of Tom trying way too hard and it's very clearly forced. Pretty big difference.

 

Yeah mine sits there for about 5 minutes and then the page finally loads. Haha I should have made a faster decision on what I wanted.

Definitely has a +44 vibe yet still Blink. I'm fine with the lyrics.

 

Doesn't make it at all okay. And doesn't make any of those songs okay/funny.

 

So there's gonna be joke songs on this? That's disappointing.

I'm sure I'll skip Built a Pool 99% of the time, but its existence doesn't really bother me even though it's not something I find particularly funny. Mark's sense of humor is still pretty immature, and apparently sincerely so. Tom, too, but his "joke song" is overlong and weird considering his history of wanting to transcend that (imaginary) association.
