I'm sure other bands have done this, but I know that Van Halen's live album with Hagar was recorded over two nights, they took the best performances and dubbed over some vocals in a studio. I'm sure it's not that uncommon, but it's an example that readily comes to mind for me.

 

Went for the big signed bundle...was too good to pass up. I hope they cut the deal soon or else they'll be signing shit for days haha.


So I am 100% getting VIP tickets to either Chicago or Indy date...assuming they're available at all shows. I can't find prices though I thought I read a comment talking about more than one option, or is there just one flat rate for VIP?

It's upsetting that there's no other way to access pre-sale unless you pre-order the album. I'm eyeballing the m&g and after that I literally am not going to have extra.

It is not uncommon for bands to do this. That's why bands book multiple nights in the same place when recording a live record. But now we're comparing VH to blink... And you can see the disparity in musicianship already...all live record are touched up for the most part. Unless it's direct to fan from the show. This one I fully believe was made in studio. Vocal takes aside, Tom literally doesn't miss or flub a note. They either patched together over 50 shows and got lucky...or you know, studio.

 

Nice find. I scrolled through really quick and they still sound pretty solid even with the poor production. You know, they probably prepped quite a bit for the live recording - knowing it would be released - and most likely made sure to play their absolute best that night

My thoughts as well. It's actually a really tight performance. Some internet sleuths out there have picked it apart I'm sure. I bet there's evidence of studio tampering when comparing the songs.

Do people not think the vocals on live CDs aren't touched up in auto tune instead of redoing the vocals in a studio?? Just like most live DVDs t he vocal track is the live recording just auto tuned.

Dont know about you, but that sounds pretty damn good, doesn't sound like they added much to the final album version, at least not in the first song.
