I've been through a couple tornados. After the first one (which was on Valentine's Day of all days) My sister and I slept in our tornado hiding place for a solid 6 months we were so traumatized. Killed 22 people and this was back before weather radios were a common thing. My grandma was up watching the news and called us to tell us it touched down and was headed right for us.

Pretty much. The consolidation of media isn't good. That said, there are advantages: big papers like the LA Times and the Tribune can help smaller local papers also owned by Tronc to stay afloat
