Tougher security greets J’Ouvert revelers at Brooklyn checkpoints

As someone who used to work for McDonalds, this is waaaay long overdue.

I remember one winter day, snow outside, the store's heating broke down. We were still forced to work in no more than t-shirts despite the temp being about 5°c inside the kitchen.

Our contracts also said we had to have at least 11 hours between shifts. One night I didn't finish til 2am, was due in at 11 the following morning, but because of my contract I didn't go it til 1. I got called into my managers office and was told "I know why you did what you did, but you should have come in earlier".

I was young, it was my first job, I should have had a lot more backbone, we put up with so much shit for what I now suspect was an illegal rate of pay.

Hope we see many more stores follow suit.
