How long until we get a post about this release on the front page?

Also, I really enjoy this track.

Reminds me of the one and only SS show I've been to. It was a tour in support of his latest release where he re-worked so many of the new tracks to be more upbeat and electronic. One of the best shows I've been to. Shame that the recorded tracks don't sound the same as the live iterations.

I completely, completely agree with you. I saw that tour as well and the way he changed the C+L songs were exactly what I love about his music. The extended outro on Blue Bucket of Gold was absolutely astonishing, the performance of All Of Me Wants All Of You was insane... I wish we got studio versions of more tracks re-done like that.

Have you heard the studio versions of Blue Bucket of Gold and Fourth of July remixes?

Yes! Agree! Especially on All of Me Wants All of You. I remember looking that song up right when i got back from the show because i was convinced i had missed it somehow on C&L When i realized that i hadn't missed it and that it was just so much different on the album, I just started playing youtube clips of the live version from there on out.

Haven't revised C&L since. These remixes you mention more like the live versions?

They are WAY more like the live versions, and having these two released gave me hope for a whole album remix, but alas....

I'm gonna PM you the remixes, but here is Blue Bucket:

Been a big fan of Sufjan since I discovered the Illinois(e) and Seven Swans albums. Kind of lost him around the Age of Adz but rediscovered him this year and realized I'd missed out on some excellent stuff. Listening to Impossible Soul right now.

I've been playing his songs on piano and guitar for a long time (For the Widows in Paradise, Seven Swans, The Predatory Wasp, Vito's Ordination Song) and decided to record a cover of Should Have Known Better. I hope you like it.

EDIT: Thanks guys for the likes!

Planetarium might be the best thing he's done.

    Thoughts?

I don't agree but I really apreciate the album for what it is - another face of the diamond that is Sufjan

it is really good, but we're talking about a man that has created several life-shattering masterpieces and that continues to evolve as an artist

definitely doesn't sound like a thoughtless side project thing, I'll say that - for sure has a solid spot in his oeuvre

I need to dig into his stuff more in general, to be honest. I'm just obsessed with that album for the last few months.

I love Illinois and his other albums are, for the most part, enjoyable to listen to. But I haven't been touched by one since Illinois until Planetarium.

He's an interesting guy, that's for sure.

Certain moments are among the best things he's ever done. But to be honest, it's also the first project of Sufjan's that really lost my interest in places. Certain parts just dragged out too long, epic as the album is.

I think I'd rank his albums this way at this point:

    1. Illinois
    2. Carrie & Lowell
    3. All Delighted People
    4. Seven Swans
    5. Michigan
    6. Age of Adz
    7. Avalanche
    8. Planetarium

Been listening to Sufjan since around the Michigan release but still so many albums I've never checked out!

Not listened to Sisyphus or Planetarium yet. Never heard of A Sun Came! And I can't remember if I checked out The Avalanche b-sides.
