Someone needs to take my instruments away from me. I keep learning more and more Brand New songs, and it's not like I'm going to record all of them, right? ...Right?

Could Never Be Heaven is done! Flew through it in a few hours. Ended up learning like 5 other Brand New songs too, oops.

 

Over the weekend, I wanted to start working on "The Shower Scene." I quickly realized after doing a google search that I know only about 1/5 of the actual lyrics, haha. I tried reading them and singing along, and I didn't even know how the lyrics fit into the song, hahaha. I've liked this song for 15 years, and I don't even know all of the lyrics from the first verse. I just sing along with nonsense, like I do with every song I sing along with.

Needless to say, I put down my guitar after about 5 minutes of trying.

 

I just listened to the Originals Vol. 2 comp and oh my god there is so much good stuff on there

 

yeah, we def need to do another originals soooooon! it'll be on the next poll, for sure.

 

I think I'll send in a cover of Out of Range that I did back before we were even sure it was a Brand New song

 

I've been listening to live versions of Limousine and I forgot how emotional this VW Green Room performance was. Or how emotional it made me after hearing the story for the first one

 

I'm going to drop You Won't Know, in case anyone wants it. Sorry everyone. I've been feeling way too mellow lately

 

I don't think I'm going to have time to complete batter up, if anyone wants it it's free

Update: I got this reverse-reverb pedal I'm using on Limousine. It creates a string effect that sounds like aliens playing violin or sometihng. It's really fun just adding chaos to the breakdown. Love how the mood swings in this song a few times.

Magazines - Love the way this is shaping up. It's interesting from a creativity stand point how starting with a rough draft track, then just layering from there makes all the difference.

Flying at Tree Level: Trying this out a few ways; Still battling where I'm going with this one. All I know is I want the breakdown to sound more creepier than the original.


Thank goddess for this long weekend. I'm glad I started these right away. I honestly wait til the 11th hour to start anything, but its so much less stressful if I organize my time.

 

if we do originals next, and I write a song specifically for it, it will probably be very Earth, Wind & Fire inspired. Been jamming them all weekend and at work.

What? Oh right, my Brand New cover. It's almost done. Just need to do my vocals.

 

Pretty much done with Could Never Be Heaven and Sowing Season. I may pick Waste back up and do a simple rendition if I can find the time.

Right now I'm focusing most of my energy on Limousine. I MIGHT get around to Flyinng at Tree Level, but I wanted to be done by tonight cause I'm gonna be in the city next weekend for Riot Fest.
