We're talking about bystanders being intimidated by anti-fascists after a woman was literally murdered by Nazis. This is the exact type of talk the latter prefers.

 

But we can't decide what questions people are going to ask ... and want to know about. When someone who reads this thread is having dinner with their parents, and their parents talk about either a video they saw, or even something they read in the New Republic like: Antifa Broke My Camera .... what's the response they give when asked these questions? Because people are asking them anyway and ignoring them doesn't seem to be working.

People condemned what happened in Charlottesville and the "both sides" stuff ... and then the next week saw what looked like to them similar beatings/violence taking place ... they're going to ask these questions when that happens. I guarantee there are people reading this thread right now that have these same questions (or have friends/family that do) but are afraid to ask them.

The far right actively targets left wing activists, faces are covered out of safety.

 

Look at what happened when nazis didn't cover their faces in cville. The left (rightly) identified people and alerted employers family members etc. you don't think the right is trying to do the same to leftists? they are, and they're doing it more aggressively and maliciously. asking antifa to unmask themselves is asking them to put themselves directly in danger of losing everything and being targets of right wing violence. if you're for antifa and what they stand for, you shouldn't ask them to do that.

What I'm saying is the way it's being frame implies equivalency from the beginning. People understood that in the wake of Charllotesville and now, with the help of well-known idiot liberals/centrists, the opinion has shifted. The left's output in response has been manifold, but that is being ignored. I am not sure what else should be done, but I know that, if you're against fascism, you shouldn't be engaging in this bullshit "both sides" rhetoric. Bottom line. I also think this "what will the kids think" talk is ridiculous as well. They should know that people that want to perpetrate genocide got beat up by people who don't want that.

 

You ignore that it also shifted because of the filmed violence that occurred. There is a reaction humans have to seeing that. And it's powerful imagery. Also, very left people from Chomsky on down have talked about the gift it was to the right, that shift should have been seen as obviously coming, it's been written about by historians for years.

And if your argument is to not answer questions that people have on this because you're engaging in "both sides rhetoric" then ... I think that's a big win for the right. They want their message unapposed.
