So Jason Cole is saying some shit on B/R about a potential trade that has the 49ers giving up their 2nd (#37) and Kaep for Denver's 1st (#31) so they can then take Connor Cook?

whoah. A pretty win-win for both teams IMO, assuming they are using it to take Cook (or Hackenberg if Cook is for some reason gone?)

Someone who apparently thinks Cook or Hackenberg could be good QBs.

That's not very baalke, he doesn't usually do bad trades like that.

Can someone give me an example of an actual win-win trade from the past couple years? Or at least one that was perceived to be at the time.

Obviously we won't know for sure yet, but I've heard a lot of positive things about the Chandler Jones to Arizona trade.

Off the old draft trade chart, it'd be the equivalent of a mid-4th rounder as a move. Which, is probably about as the 49ers were gonna do anyway. Might as well trade up to 31 and get your future QB from it.

Or, trade up to 31 before the draft, and if youre guy isnt there, trade down and pick up draft picks from another team.

Yep, was thinking vet player, about to get a new deal, being traded for a decent draft pick.

Not a lot of recent ones, but, Jared Allen off his franchise tag, and Eli for Rivers seem ultimately win-win. Chiefs got Brandon Albert and Charlers for Allen, who played out his whole deal. Giants got Eli and 2 SBs, Chargers got Rivers, Merriman, and a few other solid players.

I mean kap is garbage and cook is likely garbage so in those terms it's equal

Other scenario is "vet player and cap space for mid-round pick".

So, the Logan Mankins trade for Tim Wright and a 4th rounder. Tim Wright was kinda blah, and the 4th rounder may not pan out fully, but, they clear $13mil in cap space. Which they used to keep a few other guys. And won a Super Bowl anyway. And the Bucs got 2 years of top 10ish level play...which isnt easy to get from 4th rounder right away.

Yeah, but the best part about that trade was the fact that the Pats cut him and the Bucs picked him up again only to immediately trade him a second time haha.

Screw that kicker, whatever his name is

  18. yeah but when you know one thing is garbage and aren't completely sure on the other thing then the other thing is probably more valuable just in potential.

I dislike that trade because I think almost anyone could be better than Kaepernick.

Justin Pugh was a reach, flowers is fine but more of an RT. I can't think of another OL they took in the 1st in the last four years. They took Wilson in 2012, Pugh in 2013, odell in 2014 and flowers in 205. Stanley is perhaps a better prospect than all of them were. He does the thing the giants do so poorly at, protect Eli. This draft is deeper at rb than OT. Also it might be completely irrelevant because I dont expect Elliott to be there by 10. I wouldn't be shocked if they traded down either and took someone completely different.

    Trusted

Pittsburgh took Oline consistently high for a few years and ended up with one of the best lines in the league. I'd say it's worth the investment. Especially with an aging QB.
