It's incredible. One of the most beautiful games I've played all year. Just vibrant to look at.

 

How's the sport? Does it "feel" good?

 

The sport is the most fun of it. Beautiful game and good rpg elements. A little too much dialogue for me but some people could be into it

 

It's fucking heartbreaking man... Like.. I'm not really sure what to say. Gutted.

 

HL was basically the first game i played, so i have lots of good memories. I used to straight up have every area/level, including enemy spawns and scripted events, from the first game memorized. i'm surprised i'm not more torn up by this, but i think it's just that i came to terms with the series being abandoned, like, five years ago.

 

Been mostly said already but yes, Pyre is excellent. Characters I really cared about (both your party and the opponents you face), tons of bits of super interesting lore and the Pyres/matches themselves are really fun as the game progresses and gives you more varied characters and abilities. It's also gorgeous and has one of the best soundtracks of the year.

 

Yeah. Mixed feelings for me - anger, bittersweet, relief. I think just knowing that no one seems to be working on HF3 or at least having some sort of closure makes me feel a lot better.

Half Life 1/2 are milestone games for me, as well as Portal 1/2.

I'm pretty disappointed with Valve though.

 

The game means alot to me because of how I got started on it. It was almost fate.

It was like 2000-2001 and I found a HL1 CD sitting at the bottom of a drawer in my dads old work desk in our basement. He had never even tried it.

I was absolutely blown away by the game. It also freaked me the fuck out. I played it religiously and then started figuring out what mods were. Played Team Fortress for a few months and eventually stumbled across Counter-Strike 1.3 and was HOOKED.

I ended up playing CS religiously for many years after that. As did all of my friends. Played in CAL/CEVO/local tournaments.. Man.. those were the days!

Crazy to think what would've happened if I had never found that CDrom

 

yep, i had the same kind of experience with Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, haha. found it rooting through a donated box of textbooks, spent countless hours on it that summer.

 

Yeah I've been listening to it nonstop at the office.

I haven't picked up the game though, mostly because I'm too busy with work. Supergiant games hold a special place in my heart and I kind of want to set aside time to play Pyre without being distracted.

If one more game journalist says that "AC took a year off" in the context of "Ubisoft is taking more time than usual to make AC good again" or something like that I'm going to scream. As if one team has been making one AC game a year until now. They either don't know better, for which they should get fired, or they know better but like this narrative more, for which they also should get fired.

 

Batman S1E1 thoughts

It's refreshing to be playing a Bats at the beginning of his career--even some of the villains haven't been fully formed yet. Iirc Barbara was already Oracle in Asylum, so many events in the mythos had already transpired. The Bruce storyline is equally as engaging as the Bats fights/detective mode. I might be taking this the wrong way, but with the heavy reliance on drones it kind of feels like they brought this young Bruce into 2017 which is a little weird for me so far.

 

Man, Uncharted is still awesome. What a fucking series. One very weird but in the middle which I didn't see coming (those that have played will know what I mean) and I'm very curious as to how it will play out. Could make or break the game for me to be honest.
