Yeah, his writing on Deja is incredibly immature. I was going to recommend Limousine.

If I'm honest here, I really only listen to Deja and TDAG. I did enjoy Science Fiction but I don't really see myself returning to it that often.

 

Regardless of my overall opinion towards them, Limousine is a masterpiece of a song. It's their finest written and it's also their catchiest IMO

Brand New is a band that I think it's tough to get into if you didn't like them during your youth. There's plenty of bands I love now that I might not if I hadn't gotten into them in my teen years.

Lateralus is one of the coolest tracks ever. My friends and I would listen to that whole album back when we frequently engaged with a certain psychadelic substance

Hearing it now gives me crazy goosebumps.

 

Third Eye Blind is great and their first album is probably better than any BN album
In Rainbows is the best Radiohead album
The National are the best
Tool is good

 

i think the new one is one you will find something to enjoy from as long as you don't go into it trying to dislike it, hahaha.

Nah I'm not unfortunately. Ton of shit going on this fall/winter in addition to the few shows I am going to. I have seen them live twice though, blew me away both times.

 

I listened to the Joe Rogan podcast episode where he had Maynard on and it seems like they're getting closer, hopefully next year (I've been saying this every year for a decade).

 

it's at the place where the philadelphia orchestra plays and i have like row F tickets, totally expecting to be worth the drive up to philly on a monday and the very expensive evening

 

The Kimmel? Yeah that place is crazy, I've never been to a concert there. Saw them at the Mann center a few years ago though. I prefer non-seated concerts but I'm sure it'll be good regardless

 

Okay so I legitimately like Lit Me Up

 

I reckon earliest we'll get it will be end of next year. I know they arrange all the music first before the vocals get written so once the instruments are done I don't think it will be that long to be honest.

I instantly liked Lit Me Up. I enjoy the dark nature of it.

Can't Get It Out is fine.

Waste is really really good. It's giving me HUGE Alice In Chains/grungey vibes. Song rules tbh, right down to the lyrics. When I got to this point I couldn't believe I enjoyed 3 songs in a row.

Ok.. this feels weird typing but.. Could Never Be Heaven is easily my favorite Brand New song as it stands now (I guess that doesn't say much) but man.. Not only that but it's one of the best songs I've heard all year. I mean, it's a indie-folk song. And that's almost certainly why I enjoy it like I do.

So there's almost no yelling/screaming on this? Another huge reason I think I'm enjoying it. Not that I don't like screaming vocals, I just never really enjoyed Jesse's style when it comes to that.
