I've only listened through Low Teens twice. Some amazing songs but as a whole I wasn't in love with it

Shit, I gotta derail this thread ASAP. Um, I cannot stand ACDC. I think I am out of unpopular opinions

I can't either. At least Brian Johnson era. He sounds like an overexaggerated Bon Scott.

Also I'm 95% positive he once got kicked out of a restaurant for refusing to take off his scally cap, which is so sick

I hope I never hear AC/DC ever again. They are my 4-year-old nephew's favorite band and I am all AC/DC'd out!! That's all that kid wants to listen to X-(

i appreciate the importance of classic rock/metal acts - metallica, ac/dc, aerosmith, guns n roses - but i cannot fucking stand listening to them. give me the counterculture folk era over them any day of the year

I got into my car after work, turned on the radio, and fucking ACDC was on. I got so mad haha

My buddy/coworker told me he thinks that Axl Rose is one of the greatest singers of all-time. I had to fight back laughter.

Slash us the best top hat wearer of all time. No doubt. No doubt in my mind

While there's (a lot) more to being a good singer than your vocal range , Axl Rose has an absolutely huge vocal range, possibly the largest in popular music.

He's an extremely talented and versatile vocalist. Whether or not you like him is another matter, but he's got some serious singing chops.

Kendrick Lamar is...fine. I dunno, I think he has some tracks that are great but on the whole I think he's pretty overrated. For mainstream hip hop he's doing some really cool things, and that's cool, but people act like he's the second coming of Christ. I guess if you strictly listen to mainstream music then I can see why one might think that but there is plenty of great underground rap/hip hop that the general population just isn't aware of that's far superior.

    Yep.

Although if we're looking at the best vocal range, it's Mike Patton Digging Deeper: Axl Rose is NOT the Singer With the Widest Range - VVN Music

inclined to agree, i won't pretend that he's not at least near the top of the game right now with writing ability, but there are also a pretty decent number of rappers i enjoy listening to more. atm i'd only call TPAB a classic-potential album, and GKMC and Damn were solid but i'm not on that "three in a row classics" shit.

Damn is pretty clearly less perfect/instant classic than the last two to me, surprised how much praise its gotten as his best.

I put Damn above GKMC, there's some great songs on that album but I can't really play the whole thing in full, it drags and a lot of the elements he attempts there are better executed on the following albums.

But Kendrick is at a high cultural relevance now so he's gonna get some backlash.

Care to elaborate? I've always found Brand New to be uninteresting. Are they not alternative? I don't see how they wouldn't be...
