Well I was originally discussing it in different context as well. I feel more comfortable tossing the word important around in regards to the album art because I think the statement it makes is quite immediate, but of course I can't really comment on an album I haven't heard. Generally, when I say that The Hotelier is important, what I mean is that they are important to me. I would argue that a lot of what they touch upon lyrically, as well as their involvement with social causes could also be considered important, especially given the current state of the music scene, but far and away I just mean that their impact on my life is great enough that I consider them an important band (I'm using that word so much it's beginning to sound unreal, haha).

I'd also argue that any album/band/song that makes a lot of people feel good is important, and based on this thread, that certainly appears to be the case for this album and absolutely is with Home/INGO.

Fair enough; I guess now I have a 3rd definition to discuss haha. Yeah, I consider Home an important album to me, emphasis on the "to me" part. I guess when people don't add that last part I sort of assume they mean one of the other two definitions, which I feel are more assumption based.

I can't wait for this whole fuckin album

Sun is truly something else as a song and I sincerely hope they play it live when I see them in a week and a half

Gonna be the first time I've seen a band that isn't one of my friend's bands (On that note go check out The New Tusk) since like 2013 or so. Living on an island kinda sucks sometimes huh but the flight costs are gonna be hella worth it for these guys

Song clips are back up on Juno, but you can no longer skip around the song.

I think that an obscure digital music site putting album clips up is actually pretty common these days. There are so many of these sites that Ive only heard about because they put up clips of an album Ive anticipated.

Looks like I won't grab this album on vinyl. I'd maybe grab it from Amazon if their version has the pixelated cover, but I doubt even they know what they'll be getting.

My hatred for the cover will probably be interpreted as "shortsighted" by most in here, but part of why I enjoy buying vinyl is the layout of the packaging, displaying the cover and such.

Interested if this will match up with those mentioning it in the same breath as what TDAG was for Brand New.

I had to draw a sculpture for art classed based off of something and I chose Goodness!

The art is based off of "Piano Player" and the lyric "A kid half my age, baby's breath and meadow sage clutched in her hands like trophy game".

Yeah, I want to clarify that I was not attempting to claim that Goodness the album is an important record, seeing as how I've not heard the entire thing and cannot yet make such a statement. I have no doubt that it will become important with time, but it is clearly too early to make that judgement. I was initially talking about the band as entity and their importance to me, and then later the album artwork and the statement it makes.

(Not trying to call you out or anything, I just want to make sure my views aren't misconstrued)

I'm so excited for this. Their last album was my favorite album in years. I wish I could find more like it. Apple Music discovery is pretty limited, but some of the albums I've found on there are pretty good.

serious question. If anyone prefers the old settle the scar to the new one would you switch out the new one with the old one when you listen to the record?

Settle the scar is the only song I listened to with the clips and Im pretty sure I like the old version better. But there's no way I'll switch them out since Im sure this one fits with the rest a lot better

at first listen I liked the old one better.. But after 2 or 3 listens I think I "understood" the new version more.. the second half of it is very different, but I actually really like the verses in the new one better. I think with stuff like this you get a bit of "demoitus" where you can be attached to the version of the song you heard first.

Is it okay to talk about this song since pretty much all of us have heard the original?
