What YFW lacks in lyrics it makes up for melodies and raw emotion. The hate almost feels tangible, some of us prefer that. It wasn't that long ago Brand New were doing full-album tours and Daisy was getting a lot of hate.

In comparison, Blink's Neighborhood is much more mature lyrically than Enema but good luck convincing their fans it's the better album (self-titled is a different story). Mature lyrics isn't everything; YFW hooks me way more than SF does.

 

I need to finish reading through this but some early thoughts

Lyrics on YFW are juvenile compared to TDAG. However, they fit a certain mood. TDAG is for introspection. Some aforementioned lyrics on YFW, like "something terribly contagious on his lips" and "I hope you choke and die" are good for when you're in an angry, venomous mood. They're not great lyrics, but having a problem with them is weird.

 

Man, that's so sad.. They legitimately have a chance to go #1 because literally no other big name artist is releasing an album this week.

I understand it might not be as effective because physicals don't come out until October but I think it's worth a shot.

 

Not sure if this has been posted, but this is a great review.

 

Blink-182 is my favorite band and I actually prefer Neighborhoods over Enema of the State

When we add Science Fiction to the discography desert island thing Brand New becomes a serious contender. Even though I'm a huge blink fan I wouldn't even consider being stuck with only their discography lol

I'm pretty sure someone has to tell the guys that they have a legit shot at the #1 album. They submitted sales for Daisy, and that was #6

I watched that this morning. It was a nice detailed and enthusiastic review. I like most of that dudes reviews.

 

The ARTV review surprised me first by pronouncing "Mene" as "mah-nay". I pronounced it like "mean" the whole time. RIP.

I think the point is that they don’t really care about, or need to be, number 1.

I mean, if they really wanted it, and considering the way they released the album, they would’ve done the free download with ticket purchase thing.

 

Oh I'm sure we agree on a lot of musical opinions outside of Brand New haha

 

They probably don't care but I think the fans would agree it would be cool to see.

 

My best moment with this album so far. Surreal, chilling and beautiful.

 

I wonder how old some of these songs are. I wonder if we'll ever find out.

I'm not watching the eclipse because

A) I'll be at work
B) I'm worried about accidentally going blind even if I have all the proper protective equipment
