Wtf is happening here

 

Okay I actually just listened through YFW because of this thread and it's fine I guess? Maybe not as bad as I remembered but I think it is so easily their weakest. I skipped through a couple songs and still only really like Soco. It's catchy and I guess fine enough to have on in the background, but I don't think I'm ever going to actively reach for this album when I want to listen to Brand New. The lyrics are also pretty damn bad.

One of my fondest memories is actually covering Soco with my friend Ethan at my 18th birthday/graduation celebration and then recording and releasing a cover of it later on. So that song gets bonus points for me.

Okay that's it I'm all YFW'd out.

I realize there is life outside the internet. I was gone most of the day yesterday. If people attack me, I shouldn't attack back? If people stopped making fun of me on a 24/7 basis I wouldn't need to attack back

I think it's because I'm new here. How would you feel if you were brand new to a website and felt attacked constantly?

 

Yea let's just back off and ignore them if you don't like what they have to say

 

There are plenty of new people here that have a different experience.

 

So happy to have a new album from these guys but it took way too long. Wish they kept pace with their peers on releasing music. Wish they hadn't made so many missteps or fans hadn't made so many assumptions. I'm happy that Science Fiction was announced and then just there. I guess no Sealed To Me. Maybe they have more music to get out there some day. Let's hope it's not eight years from now.

 

Well feels like piling on now and I really can't believe blakebeats and his love of yfw is the hill I'm about to die on but it amuses me to no end when the posters who most commonly shame others for being shitty end up being the biggest bullies themselves

i wouldn't wish any sort of revisionist history on a band that from square one committed to themselves and themselves only. a career truly on their own terms beats out fame easy, as far as i'm concerned,

 

brand new is done. but this is a helluva way to go out

 

Honestly when I first joined AP I was too scared to post a lot of my opinions because I didn't want to be "wrong" lol. Pretty funny looking back on it

 

Why are we acting like he's blameless here? This is not a one sided "one user getting attacked" thing, he showed up here and trolled the thread, antagonized multiple users endlessly, called one a douche repeatedly for no reason, etc.

 

I said this on another forum but if we got 2-3 sub par albums instead of waiting 8 years and got Science Fiction, I would take the 8 year wait any day. They delivered a masterpiece so I'm not complaining.

 

Every page of this thread takes us further and further from god's light.

 

I did those things because I felt attacked.

And I've only gone after two users, one which was a missunderstanding.

 

tact/wit exists. some have it, some don't. doesn't mean they aren't doing the same thing.

I think the following bands/albums are wildly overrated on this site and actively dislike all of them:

Bon Iver
The Killers
The National
Suburbia and Upsides by TWY

Lyrics making sense shouldn't be the bar for good/great lyrics.
