i don't think this new album is very consistent. could just be me and the way i think about it. still think it's pretty amazing

 

No Control is so good. The chorus makes me feel like I'm floating into the end of the day.

 

I love No Control but it feels so much like a Nirvana song that it feels kind of out of place to me lol.

 

Album is now up on their Spotify Artist page but it's still not available.. weird/annoying

 

Just because it's on the calmer side with some standard power chord chugging doesn't make it a Nirvana song. I really don't get the need to try and find something similar to compare all the songs to. If anything, No Control reminds me of songs on Deja.

Edit: I also love the little "Hey!" in the second verse.

 

The new album gets better and better each time I listen.

 

I didn't need to try to find it. I usually hate when people do that but I found it unavoidable to make the comparison the second I heard it lol.

Pvris covered Jesus Christ (songs about 18 mins in) it's not too bad of a cover (obvs nothing on the original though).

I like the vibe. Not huge on some of the vocals, think they're a bit too prominent in parts. But what a bloody pleasant rendition! I forgot about their new album coming soon.

 

A friend got me to listen to that in the know what the cover was going to be. Wasn't a fan of any of their original material before the cover.

 

I like Pvris's debut, it's very good for that alt-pop type of vibe. I enjoyed that cover for the most part but I feel it did lose part of the emotion you feel in Jesse's vocals.

 

5 full listens in and this album is great. I was shocked at first (super 90s vibes on a lot of it) but I guess that's what I've come to expect (and love) about Brand New. The one thing I hope for their albums is that it's nothing that I'm expecting. Science Fiction definitely lives up to that!

 

After checking Google Play multiple times a day since it was released only to be disappointed it finally showed up as available to download! Off to my first listen.

Haven't had an album grow on me like this since RX Bandits - Mandala. Very similar experience there - wasn't blown away the first time I listened, but then kept coming back and noticing new things each time.

 

Definitely. Brand New just puts perfect sounds in all the right places haha.

 

@Kevin360 i know you love tdag and daisy but I feel like I've never heard you talk about deja, where does it sit for you?

I've just grown away from it over the last few years.

 

What if they have the No. 1 album in the country?

 

Better to end on the highest note of their careers than to keep going and fizzle out with nobody paying attention.
