I'm so glad they they put out a fantastic album. This thread could have very easily been filled with disappointed people instead of all the praise.

  6. Hah, that was totally Daisy. I remember that well.

As much as I love Daisy, this is far and away everything I could have wanted them to do with a final album. It is objectively better lyrically and in diversity.

i remember jesse saying something to the extent of dialing it back to a TDAG sound and going in a different direction. Daisy felt like the most aggressive and darkest parts of TDAG fully realized into this ugly, chaotic mess that totally works for what its going for. this feels like they dialed it back and went for the more atmospheric and suspenseful parts of TDAG while throwing in some of the energy and dynamics that the demos had. its pretty much exactly what I wanted from them.

don't know if this has been mentioned in this thread yet (so many pages) but its up on Spotify now. Search by Science Fiction rather than Brand New

Lit Me Up is their best opener to date and Batter Up is their best closer to date. They really created a masterpiece and started/ended the album perfectly.

Seeing the songs played live enhances the studio album.

I heard it much later than everyone else so I was surprised that it was hated, as I personally love it.

I also never understood how Folie a Deux got so much hate at the time

Agreed. It's my least favourite Brand New record but by no means a bad album.

I can't get over how good that jam is in In the Water. It's one of their most cheerful songs, I feel.

I am a huge fan of The National, they even have my second favorite album of all time (Boxer), but I don't think they will top Science Fiction. This album is just so so so good.
