Daisy rules. IAAN is great. This album is fantastic. Brand New is awesome.

 

I think it's going to be a while before I can listen to Same Logic and not constantly and intermittently exclaim things like "wow" and "my god"

Seriously!!!!!!!!! The structure of that song alone just blows me away. When the electronic parts come in the bridge and then that last verse / refrain thing starts. WOWOWOWOW

I listened to Daisy again yesterday in anticipation of Science Fiction. It's still amazing

 

Yep. That song is like, 5 different songs somehow compiled into one. And it WORKS.

 

Can you imagine what reactions would be like if we had gotten SciFi in 2009, and Daisy was the swan song we had all waited for?

Banquet has an expected date on the vinyl of 13th October so something for us to aim for at least.

 

listened to the first half of this on my way to work, so far it is VERY good

but what the fuck was that "at the bottom of the ocean" thing...I had to try so hard not to spit out my coffee on the bus. Takes me out of the song completely

Daisy has loaaaaaads. It's one of the main topics of the album, along with nature. The entire's album dynamic is feeding off the juxtaposition of peace vs chaos. I think it's why they chose that album cover. A rabid, curious fox in the middle of nowhere. The forest seems peaceful but you never know what's in it, etc. I love it.

 

And then 137 into Out Of Mana just rips. This isn't a "heavy" album in the way Daisy is a heavy album but fuck if it doesn't have some absolutely searing moments.

 

Also joke on the fox, probably not that peaceful because you can see houses where people would be through the trees

 

The white vinyl was exclusive to the Australian web store and was limited to 500.

I honestly think Brand New has made 4 masterpieces in a row, and even YFW is a masterpiece of that pop-punk era (even if not an unqualified masterpiece like the subsequent four). This band has always been ahead of their peers in every way. Daisy is no different, in my opinion. It's an amazing record that doesn't get nearly as much love as it deserves.

Just when I thought A Black Mile to the Surface was my AOTY

 

This is the follow up I wanted after Devil but I think I wouldn't have appreciated it at 20 like I appreciate this at 28.

 

There's some parts of this record that reminds me of the latter half of Sunny Day Real Estate's discography. It's hard to explain, but I vibe to it.
