Alright, my girlfriend is coming over between 9:30 and 10:00 and we are going to hear this for the first time together. Brand New was the first band we really connected over.

In waiting that long to listen I am proving, beyond all and any doubt, that I love her.

 

You don't see how "it sucks" could possibly be interpreted as you making a negative statement towards the band for this lyric you were having a negative reaction to?

About 90 minutes until I listen to the a new Brand New album for the last(?) time. We got it when it was finished.

I'll be bummed if they only play 3-4 songs from this live but I really don't know what songs they would even cut to make room for this album

Continuing to argue this point by responding to the person who told you they're gay themselves and that as such it sucks to be reminded of the perspective in the song is a weird ass way to go about making your point, which is what people have been trying to tell you. You took it somewhere beyond "let's see the whole context" in a way that wasn't necessary.

 

Same logic/teeth is my favorite upon 3rd listen

 

While I'm shouting hot takes into the void, I'll continue and say this feels like a strange companion to the new Manchester Orchestra album. Even has a reference to old mining towns.

They only have 5 albums and ignore one album completely already.

Shouldn't be hard to split songs between 4 albums, that's not very many.

 

I'm going to defer to the gay man hearing what he heard in a line explicitly mentioning gay men and trusting his reaction. I know for a fact otherwise he adores this album and this band. Doesn't lessen or cheapen that moment he had with that line.

I'd suggest dropping it and moving on.

 

lol I was eagerly waiting for a leak, downloaded it, but then was waiting until I got home from work so I could listen uninterrupted, but then Brand New just goes ahead and makes it available to everyone before I can listen to the leak.

Purchased. Still about 3 hours to go.
