Coutinho is such a good Iniesta replacement, but not exactly the same positional player as Neymar. Wonder if this is bringing about a formational shift.

If Coutinho is good for 15~ goals a year coming out of the midfield like he has before, we don't necessarily need a direct replacement with a minor formation shift.

Saw rumours online that Barca will turn to Christian Eriksen if they can't get Coutinho (a much better Iniesta replacement in my personal opinion, but admittedly biased as he is my fav player). So I have a look through twitter search and found this gem LMAO

 

Eriksen is 100% going to Madrid or Barca. But I think it'll be next summer.

 

True, I guess I kind of just presumed Dortmund would eventually find an offer too good to turn down. Seems like Dembele has been pushing for the move too, with all the reports of missing training to stupid stuff like unfollowing them on Twitter haha.

 

Oh same. I think the rumored fee for him is ridiculous, so I'm not sure why they don't think it's high enough. But yeah. The market is forever changed by Neymoney Sr's guidance of his son.

 

I think it's one of those things where it's a combination of a) too soon to the season starting and would fuck their plans up and b) the second they sell him, every other team knows they're loaded and they would be ripped off by every other team when in turn trying to replace him. Kinda the same problem Barca have following the Neymar transfer.

But yeah, the market is fucked. I thought the Pogba fee was insane last year. Who'd have thought that within a year, it would have been more than doubled, and then players that are great, but not incredible, would be going (or rumoured to be) for £50 million over it. Crazy world we live it.
