Honestly think I may want to wait until release day to hear this song and any other new singles.

Rites is so ridiculously good, Jesus Christ. Honestly might be one of my favorite Circa songs straight away.

Same, I did listen to the first single but I feel like I always enjoy Circa more when I listen to their albums as a whole

Well because I have no willpower I went ahead and listened and holy shit, this song is ridiculous. I'm curious if people who already have the album (@Drew Beringer cough cough) would say this is the heaviest/one of the heaviest songs on the album? I'd imagine it has to be. I definitely get some Schema vibes, which is not a bad thing at all.

Now the problem will be not listening to it again for 6 weeks and not listening to any another singles. Fuck.

Not sure what I'm missing. I found that song to be incredibly boring and uninspired. Maybe I just don't like this band anymore, which makes me sad, but I can't force myself to like this :-/

Edit: I will give the whole album a shot though

They sound pretty inspired to me. The energy in the song is palpable.

Yeah, I mean, it's clearly subjective, but it was a snoozer to me. I understand that it's a high energy song, but I felt that it wasn't necessarily a dynamic song and seemed kinda flat to me. Not trying to hate but these are my first impressions.

That makes sense. I just always think "uninspired" is a strange way to describe those sorts of feelings. To me, it implies the band is phoning it in, and I think whether or not you like the song it should be clear that that is not the case here. So it's really just a problem I have with the word choice.

To be more specific, at around 2:30, the guitars start to sound more like a circa song...to me.
Where before that it sounds like more of a discordant prog song. Enjoying it a lot, just caught me a little off guard.

Love love love love love this. Based on the two songs released thus far, I feel like this is probably the only album confirmed to be releasing for the rest of the year that will even come close to touching Manchester Orchestra's for me when my EOTY list is all said and done. Hype through the roof.

this new song is really cool, after Lustration was thinking the rest of the album would be slower, since anthony just did the Saosin album and all, but glad to see there is going to be some bangers on here.

but, i hope we get to hear some more soaring high notes from anthony on this album. the instruments and production is sounding pretty top notch so far, so really the only thing missing for me, is that anthony refuses go out of his middle range. i think that's what causes some people to feel that these songs (and the last two albums really) have an "uninspired" feel. anthony stopped singing high after blue sky noise, and he can clearly still replicate it live, so i wonder why it is that he doesn't sing on record like that anymore.

listening to Descensus for the first time in a while, and i'm enjoying it more than i did when the album first came out. it's so strange how circa's albums age so well, i always feel like i enjoy them more after coming back to them after some time away.

How long does it take you guys to know if you like something or not?

Do you think the more types of music a person likes, the quicker they can tell if something is for them or not?

Excluding works that are dense or new genre or otherwise subversive or avant garde etc.
