I was on Medicaid for a few years while unemployed and working temp jobs and I did feel some shame particularly picking medication at the pharmacy and having it 100% paid for. But saw it as a safety net in case I got into any real damage. I really took a gamble for the three years prior to that with no insurance and was able to afford doctor visits and prescriptions out of pocket. Now I have insurance through my employer.

 

No one should feel guilty. These are services the government should provide and extend to 100 percent of the population.

 

Yeah welfare shaming is gross, it's not like rich people game the system or anything
