I saw him last year and he hinted at a 10 year IDOTG tour this fall. Is that still happening?? I've been anxiously waiting for an announcement but I dunno if he cancelled the idea Bc I know he's working on a new album right now.

Will there ever be a real two tongues tour? Im not sure why the other tour was cancelled but I hope it wasn't because of the reception of the new album.

What was it like working with a major label for S/T, and what are the benefits/disadvantages of it. Would you ever go back to a major label given the opportunity?

i love the S/T and i view it as a giant middle finger to those that wanted IARB part 2. its got some fantastic songs and even though "Property" is kinda problematic I think the point of it is to be this super hyperbolic and ridiculous song about how twisted his views on love used to be.

im very happy for max, sherri, and their children and im glad hes doing better mentally. as someone who also struggles very much with bipolar disorder and feels the need to self medicate im very thankful that Max isnt in the place he used to be in.

and yeah shoutout to "never be a dot dot dot real man!" because i LOVE that lyric both for its cute little reference and as another middle finger to the detractors that want him to be miserable for the rest of his life

They both have a background vocal of

"Maybe we could see each other sometime, maybe someday I could make you mine".

They're both pretty far back/low in the mix, but it's there.

I've never taken Property to be anything but either extreme sarcasm/reflections on how he sees women being treated or like you said a sort of self-deprecating song where he's talking about how he used to treat women and how wrong he thinks that was. I've always taken that song as actually siding with the woman and painting the man as a vile person. Even considering the line like "Until the Empire falls" it seems he's directly comparing himself/the narrator to the Empire. Does anyone know if he's ever said anything about what he was going for with that song?

I don't hear it at all personally. But it reminded me how superb the final minute of "Plea" is.

It's easier to hear Max than Chris, but it's there, good headphones help. I remember Max mentioning it in an interview around the release of IDOTG.

Hearing the song 1,000 times growing up helps too! I could see it being hard for someone trying to pick it out if they're not familiar with it. It's one of my favorite STD songs so I've heard it countless times

"Property" is a great song, love Max's vocals on that one and the guitar. I've never spent a second considering whether or not the lyrics are "problematic", lol, that's the most amount of time I've ever seen anyone spend talking about that aspect of the song. One of my favorites on the self-titled. "Less Cute" is underrated though.

I remember a couple of years back, like maybe in winter 2013/spring 2014, I had a moment where the self-titled just totally clicked in a way it never had and now it's my third favorite behind IARB and IDOTG. I unabashedly adore pretty much everything about that album.

For as much as I love Say Anything, I have to confess I've never gotten super into the pre-IARB stuff. I think there's good stuff, but there's so much and I've never really felt a need to listen to more than a few songs a lot. Also feel the need to note that Give a Damn & Varicose Visage are easily my least favorite songs on IDTII.

Only thing I strongly disagree with is your placement of "Ahhh...Men" as a closer. It is absolutely one of my favorite Say Anything songs- the end of it gets me every time.
