Discussion in 'Music Forum' started by Matt, May 10, 2017.

  1. Was skeptical about how much I'd like this record but I think I'm officially back in after skimming that P4K livestream

  2. There's nothing more I'd want than seeing this now lol

Full Glasto set up on the BBC iPlayer now. Think I'm going to skip the new tracks - seems they played quite a few.

There's a very compelling argument to be made that The Nationals b-sides and non album tracks are some of the best in the business currently

their b-sides are better than a lot of band's album tracks. just a very, very special band. and yeah, I agree with you on that for sure.

Radiohead very easily has my favorite b-sides but goddamn if The National's aren't spectacular as well.

I'm kind of a lapsed The National fan. I got into them around Alligator and remember Boxer and High Violet coming out and just being absolutely blown away, but Trouble Will Find Me didn't do anything for me at all. I bought it and remember trying to listen to it but I'm not sure I ever made it all the way through.

These new songs all sound really good but holy shit does Turtleneck sound amazing.

I don't think I have heard "Pink Rabbits" but I'm gonna try to give TWFM another listen later today if I can find the time.

Trouble Will Find Me is, by far, my favorite release from this band. I think it's Matt's best work, lyrically. This album just fucks me up

It looks like the pitchfork video got taken down. Anyone know where I might be able to listen to the new tracks?

Structurally this song reminds me a lot of Start a War. I think that they're making the album announcements and releasing singles at midnight seems to be leading us to associate this record with late night listening as well. TSODITD was a song I like more, but I could see this growing on me as well. I just hope there are a handful of more upbeat tracks, felt like a lot of piano-driven ballads were played at the Paris show.
