Seems mean. Thought the president said this bill wouldn't be mean. Hmm.

  8. Has anyone tried flooding the white house itself with calls? They have no staff. Just call every number all the time and bring down the government

    1) Propose extra shitty bill

    2) Republicans can look good standing up to it

    3) Amend bill to look marginally less shitty (and be what you really wanted in the first place)

    4) Republicans fall in line, present new bill as a "good compromise", thus generating more public support than if the bill had been in that form from the start.

seems pretty clear this is what's going on here.

No really, so tired of this. I am a 34 year old white dude who's employed full time at a white collar job with decent benefits and every. single. time. I need more of one of my meds it's a struggle involving multiple phone calls and time I can't get back. My privilege is out the wazoo. Cannot imagine the struggle for people who are worse off than me.

If they absolutely destroy the ACA, I'll be better off (financially) staying on dialysis for what would be a much shorter life than receiving a kidney. It's fucked up beyond belief.

That's awful. If you have the chance of going to a town hall and telling your story, I think it would go viral would be very beneficial for everyone for making them look like shit.

Kinzinger was recently in my town for a 'celebration' for our new water system and ran away before he could be asked any questions. He's also hardly held any town halls, recently the one he did you had to pre-submit your questions which is total bullshit. I recently signed up in my dialysis clinic to help fight for patients like me.

It's okay, the trickle down theory will come through. Jelly beans for all

No I think SSDI is treated just as a part of social security. I don't think Obamas expansion of that program was part of the ACA but I'm not sure honestly.

Also, I'm pretty sure Medicare is available to those who've been on SSDI for 24 months or more.

TBT to when Ted Cruz thought it would save his campaign to pathetically announce a running mate before becoming the nominee and also that it would be an even better idea for that running mate to be Carly Fiorina.

    Simpler times.

End stage Renal disease gets you Medicare early and automatically. I'm currently covered by that and United through my Dad. (I'm 30, but I got a special continuance because of ACA).

My concern comes into play 3 years post transplant. Medicare will only cover the very expensive and vital meds for three years (and even then not in full, 3k worth a month). So if the parts of the ACA that are essential to my health like the pre-existing condition protection and my ability to keep United are destroyed, I'll be on my own to buy insurance at a stupid high premium because I was already sick. I'd never be able to afford the premium or afford the meds out of pocket.

But Medicare would continue to pay for my dialysis treatments for life. Which is like 85,000k a month.
