I really love the way he drifts in and out of the narrative. Makes the song so interesting, from a lyrical perspective.

 

That music video was fantastic. And I find it so weird how with this and Simple Math it seems as though the story of the lyrics is totally different than the story in the video.

 

I'm having such a hard time articulating my lukewarm feelings about these songs. Andy's voice sounds immaculate, but I think I find myself wishing for a balance between quiet moments and loud ones. So far both songs released find one kind of tone and just stick with it all the way through whereas a lot of their other songs tend to range wildly from start to finish - this is what attracted me to the band in the first place.

Again - not inherently bad from my perspective, just something I'll need to sit with for awhile.

Yeah I was really expecting to not like this song after all the comments yesterday but I don't think it's strange at all haha

I still wish there were going to be some straight up rock songs but this album is definitely gonna be great either way I think

 

Yeah not sure where all the weird/strange stuff is in the song because I didn't hear it

 

Also on board with the "it's not that strange" sentiment. This record is shaping up nicely, very likely it becomes my AOTY.

When I said weird guys, I didn't mean there would be a Migos feature and some dub step drops.

 

I guess I'll have to get into this band. Going to give them a spin.

But what did you mean? The only thing approaching "weird" in here is the little "clicky" beat that starts the song and pops up later on. Otherwise, it's pretty straightforward.

 

This song is v good. 2 for 2. Can't wait for this album.

 

I mean that I felt this song sounded more different than any of the others they've done before. The song structure. The narrative breaks. The drawn out changing choruses. Also that it doesn't strike me as a single.

 

The only weird thing about this song is that it doesn't quite strike me as the kind of a song that would get released as a single. It's a gorgeous song.

The chord progression reminds me of Aphasia by Pinegrove.

 

Ah ok. I think weird is just kind of a loaded term so people were thinking things like a Migos feature or dubstep drops

 

video is the same idea (basically) as the one for "simple math." But it sure is mesmerizing. Don't love the song as much as the first one released, though.

 

Am I crazy for thinking that both of these songs sound pretty similar?

 

If only. I'm tired of MO not taking these kind of artistic leaps...

 

So is it correct to assume that this album won't be very heavy?

 

yeah i mentioned the similar simple choruses with the layered vocals.
