It took a few plays for The Gold to click with me so I wasn't expecting much out of The Alien. It's really good and has me very excited for the rest of the album now.

This is going to be a real memorable album. Also that's some nice single art.

I am loving this song so much. I'm pretty sure it's only going to get better once I have the rest of the album to make better sense of it. So ready for July 28th!

    Well this is instantly awesome.
Having a feeling this is going to be my AOTY and my favorite Machester release by a longshot.

Band sounds like they are all clicking on the same wavelength

This song actually reminds me of Paramore's "In The Mourning," which isn't a bad thing. Also, this doesn't really seem like a weird departure at all, why do people think that?

Reminds me more of Richard Edwards/Margot & the Nuclear So and So's, especially at the start. But definitely hear Sufjan too.

Also not as weird as people were making it out to be.

I guess I was expecting this to weirder. But it was great regardless.

yeah this isnt weird or polarizing, i was expecting spoken word verses or some razia's shadow type stuff, haha. its really good! if i had a complaint its that the chorus melody of this and the gold are fairly simple/similar. minor complaint though.

I didn't notice that at first but I sort of see what you mean how the notes are held out and how they are harmonized. Luckily the rest of it is executed really differently instrumentally so that it still sounds really fresh.

Also I love that he sings almost every line in those choruses just a little differently. It's a small thing that can go a long way to giving that simple melody lasting value

This is the jam of summer 2017. The dueling guitar solos and Taylor Swift feature solidify it as an absolute banger.

The part where she and Andy sing about This Sick Beat (tm) is what really solidified its banger status for me.

Chords are completely different but I hear it in the picking pattern. So influences on the song, Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens, Paul Simon, and Taylor swift. Pretty sweet!

God damn that song was so good...and like others said, nowhere near as weird or strange as people were making it out to be yesterday. I believe someone said there was like spoken word involved or something. I didn't think this was that out of the box for them (I don't say that in a bad way - I just expected something really different based on comments yesterday).

This album cannot come soon enough. I've done a really good job of not listening to The Gold alot, so I'll try to do the same with The Alien. I don't want to overplay these songs before the album is release. But holy shit am I jacked for this album.
