  5. I'm sitting by a window on the 12th floor of our library on campus, and the sun came out of the clouds for the first time today just as I pushed play on 05/28/77. Great moment.

I was kinda meh when they were singing the soul but as soon as Etta took the mic, their playing really took off. Damn.

  13. Yeah Pigpen originally sang Lovelight but they brought it back with Bob in the 80s. The Pig version on Live/Dead is archetypical, I recommend it. Have you ever listened to the non-Dark Star cuts from that album? I rec them all. Also the Dicks Picks 4 version, also on Spotify. Pig's Lovelight is one of my fav dead songs period

I heard the whole record and it didn't do much for me at the time. I may have to revisit at some point. I tend to like them more when they're on the Americana side than the jam side, and that record, to my recollection, is a lot of the latter.

BOY can they play behind Etta though. Who does the harp?

  15. Definitely at least revisit Lovelight, it is very bluesy. Really jammy too but skip around

According to the description, some guy named Matt Kelly idk

I have a fan page for the director of that movie. I inadvertently get inside scoops now and then because people who know him IRL think its his personal account and msg me. I learned what his previous two movies would be years before each of them were officially announced. An actor and a voting/nominating member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences suggested there is a 7 hour directors cut of LST in the works.

"dark star crashes...pouring its light into ashes...reason tatters...the forces tear loose from the axis...searchlight casting for faults in the clouds of delusion...shall we go you and i while we can through the transitive nightfall of diamonds...mirror shatters in formless reflections of matter...glass hand dissolving to ice petal flowers revolving...lady in velvet recedes in the nights of goodbye...
