Love the "dream far away" sample from "Wild Heart" in "Goodmorning." Definitely one of my early favorites.

I gotta tell ya, listening to bleachers just makes me miss fun. Jack isn't too interesting on his own imo. Probably why his writing and production for other people is better than his solo stuff, imo anyway

While I disagree about Jack not being interesting on his own, this album really makes me miss fun. In a weird way, this album feels like the Some Nights to Strange Desire's Aim & Ignite. Not sure if anyone else is picking up what I'm laying down, but the type of progression from one album to the next, the expanding of the bands sounds to stranger places... I dunno, I feel parallels

I don't like his voice all that much or his production style. Neither are bad but I don't find either to be interesting

This is the biggest roadblock for me too I think. He doesn't have a bad voice per se, it's just uninteresting to me I guess.

I prefer the vocals on this than the first one. On Strange Desire the vocals are ridiculously layered and make everything feel impersonal. I still think that applies a bit to this one but there are moments where it feels more impactful than anything on Strange Desire.

This is better than strange desire but outside of like roller coaster I didn't like that album

I had that impression in Strange Desire at first, like it feels impersonal. But it def grew on me and it started resonating with me more. This just clicked on first listen though, and it's really really helping me go through some stuff. So that's awesome.

If fun was going in the direction of Nate's solo album, then I would much rather have this. I really like the risks Jack took and structuring it as a whole experience, with callbacks and reoccurring themes. Really impressive. But I also get people not liking Jack's voice.

I understand why people may not like the vocals, but to me they are one of the best parts about Bleachers and certainly this album.

I, uh, also don't think Fun. is very good, but I understand I will be in the minority there.

I first heard Rollercoaster and felt SO PUMPED to hear a whole album like that. But I just never could get into that full album other than Get Better, and Like A River Runs.

I'll hopefully have better results with this new one, but the opener didn't do anything for me either.

Definitely like it, can't say love yet. Really like "Goodbye" and "Foreign Girls", and "Everybody Lost Somebody" is probably my song of the year so far.

Saw him at GovBall yesterday, only played the 4 singles off the album, excited to hear how some of these other ones translate live.

steel train's s/t is probably my favorite thing Jack's done as the frontman of a group

Obviously it's expected.. but comparisons are so unnecessary IMO. Being a guitarist/co-writer in a band is completely different than creating something that's 100% your own. Especially when he wasn't even the frontman of the previously mentioned band

Had a first listen through this morning. When DTTM dropped it was exactly what I wanted from Bleachers, and while I think I'm gonna really like this album, it doesn't conform to the expectations I built after DTTM dropped. It's incredibly solid though and I'm looking forward to unraveling all the threads that is this record.

Yeah but considering the frontman of that group doesn't even play any instruments and all three members were posited as equal forces in the writing of the music, it's just as relevant as if he were the frontman. I can't help but listen to Bleachers and think what if it was just like this but with Nate singing it?
