Bands you loved that faded away • Page 7

The two that come to mind immediately for me are The Years Gone By and Park. People already mentioned Park, but "It Wont Snow..." is possibly the most upfront, depressing album I have ever heard. I would kill for a pt. 2 haha.
With the Years Gone By, I feel like they were the best band in that upbeat poppy pop punk era. Nick has such a good voice, and the band wrote such catchy songs. They never took off, got dropped from Rise, and tried to self release some stuff... it just didn't work out and they disappeared.

Destroyer Destroyer was good.

 

I wish Strike Anywhere would make a new album.

 

I'd probably consider them my favorite band if they had more than two albums.

 

Looks like they have a new album ready to go. They've been posting about it on Facebook and shot a video last month.

 

They had a single from it I think three years ago, but the album never materialized. I don't really like anything they did post-2000, though, so I don't have the highest hopes.

 

Yeah, they recently confirmed that that single will be on the upcoming album. Strange that there was such a long gap in between. I agree that their more recent stuff hasn't stuck with me, but I'll always check out whatever they release because All the Pain Money Can Buy and The Harsh Light of Day were so good.

Both of those are great. After that they went in a different direction stylistically that I wasn't as into. It was more...classic pop, I guess? In theory, it should have been great, but the songs never resonated with me as much.

Out Here All Night was an album I listened to a LOT when it first came out. They pretty much faded away after their drummer passed away due to kidney failure.

I'll also always wonder what happened to This Providence. I really liked I think their self-titled album and the last ep they put out was pretty cool but then they just kind of dropped off the map.

 

"Dance With Me" and "Heaven or Hell" are still two of my favorite songs ever written tbh

 

I loved this album when it came out too. I saw them at a festival around that time and their live show was really strong as well. Hadn't thought about them in a while.

 

Over It. Just kinda seemed like they demoed for a new album and let it slip away. Guess they thought Runner Runner would catch. Miss Pete's voice and the energy/variety of Over It.

Moneen also faded away. They still do occasional shows, but they are band that should around still recording.

Glad Moving Mountains still exists because I thought they were headed the same direction as moneen

 

Anyone here remember Paris Texas? They had an album about ten years ago that was pretty gnarly. They were signed to New Line Records, which p much folded after only a couple of years.

I also really enjoyed a band called As Fast As that had one album come out thru Octane Records (think that was the name; Maroon 5 had some ties to it) and then a sophomore release that's very difficult to find aaaand that's all I know.

 

Haha I love this thread. That Paris Texas album was a jam. I still listen to some of those songs on occasion.

Also saw As Fast As at the same festival where I saw Damone. HFStival 2006. Also featured plenty of other candidates for this thread like Rock Kills Kid, The Working Title, Dropping Daylight, People in Planes, and Love Arcade.

Dude, I loved the Working Title's album when it came out (same goes w/ RKK). There are a few songs that were tailor-made to be hits, but so it goes.

I saw someone mentioned Damone earlier. "Out Here All Night" should have been massive.

That Working Title album was amazing. I actually like the follow up Bone Island even more. It was a huge stylistic departure, but it had such a great aesthetic and really strong and diverse songs. One of my favorite albums to this day.
