I'm on Good Old Days right now. It's just not good.

 

Yeah, the material from the California sessions reminds me of Green Day's trilogy. I like a good deal of it, but there's too much half-baked stuff there.

 

I mean he's all over these new deluxe songs ... and it's not great.

 

Isn't funny how the only good thing about these songs is when Matt sings.

 

I wouldn't say he's all over, but Matt is really the only bright spot in my opinion.

 

Also, I fail to hear the Trio comparison on Last Train Home.

 

It's here guys. See you in a couple hours, I am going for a drive with no destination!

 

I'd say the exact opposite. He is and it's not very good.

 

*Mark sips some coffee with John in the studio*

Matt's got a great voice, but thaaaat's about all that was utilized well by him on this album.

 

Matt: I have a even better idea.
John: You do as I say ! I'm running the show !

 

What I'm saying is if they would have let him write more these songs could have been good.

I think using Feldmann to take the blame away from the band is a cop out. They deserve some, if not most, of blame for the bad songs too.

 

What I'm saying is that they clearly did and they're not.

 

Oh I agree with you. I do think the blame is 50/50. No doubt this was the direction Mark and Travis wanted to go with.

 

Omg they used delay in Bottom of the ocean (2:30 and onwards). Tom. Is. Back.

 

I think your bias is showing just a tad, yeeesh.

 

I also think it's funny that people assume Matt basically did nothing but sing what people wrote for him. He wasn't going to try to write Trio songs for blink. He wrote blink songs for blink. And blink has never measured up to Trio songs IMO, as equally as I love both bands.

Mark hasn't written anything really great in how many years?
Travis can make anything sound great, but even his drumming is lacking on a lot of these songs. No personality.
Matt either didn't write much, or he just tried to write what he thought a Blink-182 song would sound like and fell short (this time)

 

I find it hard to believe Matt had that much input on the writing.

 

Mark should be replaced.

Substitute in Ryan Key or something.....

 

I think Matt tried writing a song to the point of direction that Mark wanted the band to go.

 

I think it's pretty clear that Feldmann probably had little to do with the writing on the Deluxe edition. At least, not to the extent he did on the regular album.


Matt clearly had plenty to do with the writing, their are parts that sound straight off of My Shame Is True. Unfortunately, they failed at the +44/Alk3 hybrid sound that seemed like it'd be a good idea (though I still think it could work)
