The girl is Simon Wilcox, apparently. Sounds like she's a producer/songwriter and helps with a lot of pop acts.

  3. While Bill Stevenson is the blink I WANT to hear, two choices I'd be super interested in hearing would be Justin Meldal-Johnsen or - no joke - dr. Dre

    It's probably Simon Wilcox.

Overall I found the deluxe tracks to be pretty boring. I don't think that they're bad songs but I've grown tired of the production, and as people have mentioned before, repeating riffs during the year we've had with og California. I haven't heard distorted guitars sound this whimpy in a long time. I really like Bottom of the Ocean, 6/8 and the verses in Last Train Home though.

Yes there is. I don't know why that dude said there wasn't. Lyrics, drums, and maybe some of the guitar changes.

  6. Fun facts:

    - "Good Old Days" was co-written by Simon Wilcox, who has written with Britney Spears, DNCE, Demi Lovato, Enrique Iglesias, Nick Jonas, Fifth Harmony, 5 Seconds of Summer, Nick Jonas, and Josh Groban.

    - "Bottom of the Ocean" was co-written by Nicolas Furlong (aka RAS), who has written with All Time Low, Steve Aoki, 5 Seconds of Summer, Papa Roach, Waka Flocka Flame, Good Charlotte, and Machine Gun Kelly.

  7. Are you suuuuuuure?

I mean, I haven't listened to that song a ton, but it sounded exactly the same to me.

Yes. I loved the original and listened to it a lot.

I thought I wanted the +44/Alk3 hybrid but these songs are just so goddamn dull, forgettable, and just sound like a super neutered version of that combination. Glad these were released now instead of being having to wait for the end of the album cycle to be disappointed.

but does my opinion matter if i think WDNTW is the best (WYHSB is 2nd) work in the "blink/ava/+44" anthology

Yeah I can't say I'm the most familiar with that song but nothing popped out to me as being different when I listened. I was going to say the mix sounded different but I've also only listened to the song on YouTube. haha.

  11. Same. I didn't hear anything different but didn't listen more than once. People are saying 6/8 has skiba mixed louder too. Idk if I hear it or really care that much.

Can you give me a couple examples? Not trying to say you're wrong at all. I'm genuinely curious to compare the two versions. haha.

  13. I agree with Jason when he said that Blink has gone as far as they can with Feldmann's production/ideas/writing. I don't think I can stomach another Feldmann produced Blink album.

I think that about sums it up. I love California for what it is and really really like a few of these deluxe tracks, but overall, I think it's apparent that they reached the bottom of the well with this style.

Or maybe it's because I'm not used to hearing 27 blink songs on an album.

6/8 is the time signature the songs in... is that not worse? Haha

My brain just ignores those sorts of things. Especially after "155" and "MH.4.18.2011"... I seriously have to look that song name up every time.

I'm with you here. I think going with someone else would be in everyone's best interest. I'd even be interested to hear what they could do with someone like Aaron Sprinkle if they wanted to explore more of those "electronic" elements (for lack of a better term) that are scattered throughout.

The MH one seems like a demo title. Whether that was what they were after or not I'm not too sure, but it could have been given a better name haha.

I'm just shocked how little heart and soul is in the vast majority of these 27 songs. It's like they just put on some All Time Low and 5SOS albums and said, "Ok, so this is what pop punk has become, and this is what's popular right now. And here's a couple subjects to write about. Let's try to emulate this."

Like, besides it just being "fun and catchy" or whatever, I just can't get behind so much of this stuff. There's no substance.

I think I'm just going to listen to the 14 track version of the album that I made, listen to it when I want to listen to newer Blink stuff, and leave it at that. The 13 other songs I took off could disappear from existence entirely, and I don't think I'd miss any of them, haha.

I feel like I'm punishing myself by listening to a lot of this because I WANT to love it, but I really just feel like I'm listening to All Time Low and I can't stand them.

GUYS I'M GOING OFF THE RAILS AGAIN!!!!! haha

It is a demo title. Mark and Tom would send each other song ideas for Neighborhoods as MH.Month.Day.Year and TD.Month.Day.Year. From what I remember Mark had an idea for a title but Tom told him to keep it as MH.4.18.2011 because it sounded cool to him.

I will say I like that the acoustic version of BTD is a fairly undoctored live recording

  23. I don't like it, haha.

yeah I haven't heard it to make the opinion yet, but I do know I'd have rather a studio cut, acoustic, over dub extra harmonies. make it something special and not just a live cut that I can see numerous times on youtube haha. but again, haven't heard it.
