Bingo. If they push songs and sounds like last train home. That would be incredible. I would love to see blink make their own 'a thousand suns'

If we are naming producers. Kurt ballou. Marks bass and matts guitar isn't crunchy enough for my liking. ;)

Man. I really didn't expect this. I freakin' love some of these songs. Like i didn't expect to feel this from listening to new blink ever again. Good Old Days, damn. And it could just be the member berries, but the +44 sound in Bottom Of The Ocean is awesome.

And i agree with what some of you have said, that it would be time for them to use a new producer. Or perhaps use a bunch of producers, with letting Feldmann only producing a poppy generic lead single, haha.

EDIT: Good Old Days is AMAZING. I haven't felt this for a new song since 2012 when my favorite band Kent released the song 999. I'm so happy.

Wow, I couldn't expect from blink to put a decent second album of California...the dark and heavy side is so much better than original California!

My biggest fear right now is that they only felt comfortable doing some darker songs because it was for the deluxe edition. Like, i want the next album to have this sound, not the more generic pop-punk'y sound.

The next album by someone in this group needs to be an Alkaline Trio album

I think it's my favorite from the deluxe. But it's hard to decide, there are many great songs.

Songs I approve of on disc 2: Misery, the chorus of Don't Mean Anything, Hey I'm Sorry, Last Train Home (sort of but it's too repetitive), 6/8, Bottom of the Ocean.

Parking Lot and Good Old Days are bad. Wildfire and Long Lost are boring.

Thinking (way) outside the box... How crazy would a Eno-produced track be. It'd be highly unlikely that they'd work together, but it'd be interesting.

I agree with what everyone else here was saying producer-wise. Go with someone who's going to try to get them to do something different (whatever that might be) - but there's almost a 100% chance they go with Feldmann for at least a portion of the next album.

These deluxe songs are good though that I think I'm content for a while. What they sound like to me is that they were good ideas for songs but never got fully fleshed out, if that makes sense. Like, they had a good melody for the "Hey I'm Sorry" chorus melody but it just sounds...incomplete. Same with "Long Lost Feeling". It felt like it was going to build up, but it never really went anywhere. Still a great song, regardless.

Here's something I'd like to ask Mark, Matt, and anybody else that's involved in their songwriting now:

What's so wrong with "growing up?" Like, I don't know, you can do whatever you want as an adult, and from what I remember, as a kid you had to go through a bunch of shit. So again I ask, what's wrong with growing up? Also, please write about something else next time.

Anyway, I can see why these songs didn't make the record. They're fine as a separate thing, but I certainly don't think any of these are as strong as anything on California.

And I hate to jump on the "blame the producer" bandwagon, so I'll just say maybe they should try exert themselves a bit more next time and have more control. You're fucking Blink for chrissake!

I hope this doesn't all sound too negative. I think the deluxe is enjoyable, but I'm ready for a new sound.

I haven't listened to the Deluxe yet, but it was the same type of stuff on the regular release. I agree, I'd like to see them write some more mature content and they have. I look at The Menzingers, they wrote a fantastic album about their 20s ending and starting their 30s. and those songs don't feel childish at all. I really like California and have really liked the new songs, but going forward I'd like to see some growth as well. with two albums worth of songs I really feel like they are working well together and Skiba seems to get more and more comfortable. I would like to see someone other than Feldman just to see what someone else could bring to the table with them.

just realised 6/8 and brohemian are the only 2 song titles that dont come from lyrics (most of them being the chorus)...

I think there is just as much bullshit as an adult, if not more.

I dunno. I'm not big on the whole anti growing up lyrics, but I kind of get it. Things were simpler when I was younger.
