  1. God, I wish I had been at that. I've heard that story before and I'm so jealous of everyone who was there. I didn't start listening to TWY or Fireworks until 2009, and I didn't get really into the Peoria scene until 2011.

Well my man it sounds like you're more than making up for lost time. Especially playing with Mark Rose-- so awesome. The first time I saw Spitalfield was in Morton at the Morton Optimist Club. I'd only heard a couple of their songs and didn't know what they looked like, so I actually asked Mark (not knowing who he was at the time) what time spite-alfield was playing. I felt like an idiot but he was super nice.

The East Peoria legion hall was the place that had the shows pretty much every weekend in the early-mid 00's. The biggest bands I can think of that played there before they got huge are MCR and Underoath. I'm sure FOB played there too but I can't remember specifics on them. I do remember that The Starting Line, Allister, and Finch were supposed to play there on 9/11 but it got called off for obvious reasons.

  8. The best. The whole set sounded great, and I was really glad she played the Elliot Smith cover.

I think I'll go see Monobody tomorrow, one of the best live shows I've seen

Saw them open for Up Up Down Down and Pet Symmetry in January, and they were absolutely phenomenal. I'd be there tomorrow if I didn't have a bachelor party and a conference for work to go to.

My band Droughts is playing Thursday April 21st at Burlington if anyone is looking for a show to go to. I believe it is also Emo Night in the front of the bar. Get your fill of Dashboard Confessional, Braid, Mineral, TBS, etc. etc.

Does everyone have that "Maybe I should move to Chicago" feeling after they visit?

Well, after the weather we had this past weekend, I wouldn't blame them at all. And then winter comes and ruins it...

I live near the Logan/Hermosa border and it's such a pain to get to the Bottom Lounge from here. I didnt realize the bus I was going to take down to the green line essentially stops running for the next hour so that's cool. I really love the CTA.

I got spoiled in the fact that the last two shows I went to were at Township so I could just walk there.

What blew me away was how easy it was, especially with the CTA. Never once got lost, or annoyed that I had to take public transportation like I do here in Boston.

Whenever there's a problem at the cta those crowds get huge really quick. Has happened maybe three times since I've moved here, but those were a weird three mornings.

I think this depends on where people are originally from, and what time of year they visit. But more often than not, I find that people visiting for the first time like it a lot more than they expect to. I mean next to NYC, I think it's the most "city" feeling city in the country (that might not make sense, sorry). But, it's way more maneuverable, there's bit of vegetation to break up all the concrete, and it's infinitely more clean. I think those reasons (and the fact that it's much cheaper than NYC) make it a very appealing place to settle down if an urban life is your thing.

Infinitely more clean if youre in the areas rich whte people live. Im consistently blown away by how much garbage is strewn around the streets here.
