  1. This was the last time we heard from Teebs.

In all honesty, they are bad, but "Closer" is great. Like, kids 20 years from now will still be hearing it everywhere kinda great. Sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut.

Lol I didn't make it past the second track, not for me. I sort of get their appeal tho.

I expected to like them a lot more just based on the catchy factor, but I wasn't into it

Roses is a pretty great song too (although it may just be because one of my roommate's in college played it at least 3 times a day, so now when I hear it it just takes me back right away).

I know I already posted about this song today but damn, the bridge in Rose-Colored Boy slaps. Hayley's vocals are smoooooooooooth.

every time i listen to Tell Me How i wanna open the window, put every speaker i have up to it, and blast the second verse for everyone to hear

also, the closing seconds reminds me of the end of the last few minutes of PBTT's Keep You

this album is very, very hit or miss for me. some great jams and then there are tracks i will never go back to.

i've learned that i do not like Hayley's vocals in "Idle Worship" at all. i know it was obviously an artistic choice but they way she sings is just grating to me.

Yeah I think she sounds fantastic in that song. Not a big fan of the la la la's though.

Her vocals are so powerful in Idle Worship!

Yea the rawness of a lot of the vocals in s/t was one of, if not my favorite, parts of that album and I was glad it came thru in AL. In my mind that's a huge part of why this album can still sound like "paramore" despite the musicianship being so different and why anyone saying these songs don't sound honest are insane.

Oh man, classic us disagreement haha. I don't like her vocals in the verses for the most part and I like the la la la's.

I've learned lately that people are really fuckin' sensitive about vocals. Y'all listen to Dylan and Neil Young?

  18. I'm slightly bummed that my long, confessional, thought-out comment on my relationship with this album got buried by people discussing the Chainsmokers

  19. I sure don't! Haha. I fit your comment perfectly. I'm an extremely vocal-centric music listener. My ability to enjoy a singer's voice and performance plays more into my music tastes than do lyrics.

Yep, sensitive about vocals is absolutely me.

    (That's not sarcasm.)

I'm sensitive to vocals but it depends. I think Bob Dylan's voice suits his music for sure. But like I could never listen to Say Anything because Max has the most off-putting voice to me

Yeah I don't see how it's even a complaint to begin with. This is the best she's ever sounded and these are the best melodies she's ever written. Not to mention the harmonies and how she sells the lyrics with convincing performances full of emotion and conviction
