So it might not be a mv, I’ve seen some people say it looks like Zane Lowe is the guy with her and I am now convinced that is true lol

He mentioned it offhand in a podcast I think, but otherwise isn’t really public with it. He’s not really public with much though, admittedly. But it makes the sparkling water brand deal make a bit more sense.

That sounds right. He was hit or miss in 2016 after the Tidal Wave release, but I think they said he missed some of those shows due to a family member being sick? And I remember having a conversation with somebody about how they didn’t know until a day or two before their 2017 tour with ETID that he wouldn’t be out with them, but he showed up at the holiday shows that year. I don’t remember when they announced he was out officially, just that it felt like a while of not hearing anything about it.

obviously multiple sides to the story and there is a lot we don’t know, but prior to his departure, it seemed like they gave him a really long runway to clean himself up. If i recall there were a couple years where he was MIA.

this is probably the best succinct summary though I think a lot of the information that we have might be a bit biased simply because the band themselves don’t really speak publicly about a lot of this. I know in one of those recent oral history books of the scene (the MySpace ones I think), for example, Eddie talked about the band supporting him financially through his first attempt at rehab. I’m not saying they were right to cut ties with him after he relapsed, but something tells me that Eddie’s version of whatever happened following that might not factor in their feelings, things he may have done and said to them, and their version of the truth. It feels a bit more nuanced than him getting left behind simply because of his struggles. I can see some of the hypocrisy maybe in terms of taking a brand deal with a distillery, but not because of anything to do with Eddie. He’s no longer in the band. I don’t make my work decisions with former coworkers in mind (though I realize this isn’t exactly the same thing; bands do function a little differently). In my opinion though, anything Eddie said that might have had any value went right out the window the moment he mentioned somebody else’s substance abuse issues in his post. He’s since deleted it, anyway.

I’ll try my best to sum it up: -Eddie left TBS/got kicked out (apparently) due to his alcoholism -Band says during & for some time after his departure that the door is open for Eddie to come back whenever he is ready, despite never remaining in contact with him after the fact. -Band continues touring for 6 years, releases a record without Eddie and tours on that record. Eddie voices positive sentiments for the new material, but no one in the band publicly acknowledged those kind words. -During the 152 writing process/release, Adam gets sober. -Band makes a recent business deal with a distillery to attach their name to some of this distillery’s whiskey despite Adam’s sobriety and the band kicking Eddie out for his alcoholism, even though Eddie was the glue that kept things together through Adam’s substance abuse issues between 2002-2006 when they were at their biggest commercial success. I’m sure there’s A LOT more to it than just that. There may have been some really harsh things said when Eddie left that made any sort of reconciliation impossible. Either way, I can see Eddie’s POV and there is some hypocrisy there, but at the same time we don’t know the whole story.

I don’t pretend to know or fully understand the psychology behind addiction, but part of me believes the comment about the music was the addict part of Eddie’s brain lashing out. Everything else he said was totally valid though and I get why he would be upset. There’s a lot of hypocrisy in the band’s actions, but something about that comment at the end just doesn’t sit right. OR maybe Eddie legitimately didn’t like 152 but didn’t wanna shit on their parade at the time, and this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I don’t know. It sucks either way. I hate to say it but I don’t see another album coming from this band, especially with whatever’s going on with Mark. And if you’re gonna close the book on a band’s story, 152 is a great record to close out on.

I feel for Eddie, he seemed like the backbone of that band, holding it all together for years and feels like when he has his own struggles they carried on and kind of left him behind, but who knows. But yea, this seems a bit out of touch and odd since he seemed to have been pretty positive about 152.

Danger Days was such a weird time for them. Similar to Folie a Deux/Pretty Odd in that scene a few years earlier, a lot of the kids who got into them were now getting older and growing out of that style of music. The band, at least in the US, was definitely NOT considered cool and mocked in a lot of circles so I think a lot of people fell off simply due to just getting interested in other music genres. A good portion of the fans that got into them with Three Cheers and Black Parade may have felt a bit turned off by the band daring to embrace a more flamboyant and fun side so it definitely suffered. Still a really good record and I'm glad they put it out.

152 was fine.. like, i don’t go back to it because there’s nothing special about it that makes me want to listen to it again, but it isn’t awful or anything like that. there’s some really cool ideas. i also remember it being incredibly short and that bugged me a little because i have been waiting forever for new material from them. i think Eddie will apologize online at a later time or just delete this post. dude has moments like this periodically. he’s just angry and can’t move on for whatever reason.
