To the first point in the first tweet, I’d say that working class people are correct to view themselves as being in conflict with annoying liberals and bureaucrats because the former is actively antagonistic towards the working class while the latter is typically positioned to be a buffer between the working class and the things that would make their lives better (means-testing, complicated red-tape, etc.). To the second point, I see no evidence that people in the working class like billionaires and see them as good - some might like Elon as he’s worked to align himself with Trump, who they’ve cast their hopes onto. But I don’t understand how this person is coming to the conclusion that the working people see billionaires (as a class) as their allies in anything. Pretty much every billionaire you can name has an under water public opinion according to whatever polls I’ve seen, and there were also those polls that I believe @Leftandleaving shared last week that showed Republican, Democrat and Independent voters each saying that a small number of wealthy individuals has undue control over society and negatively impacts their lives by >75% in each camp. To the second post, yes you can definitely get people on your side by talking about how liberals suck and have failed them. In fact, I think it’s one of the most important ways to talk to working class people, right there with talking about how the weird ass republicans who they also dislike in poll after poll have failed them, and how both parties serve the wealthy elite. I don’t know who this poster is and where they’re coming from, but I keep seeing you posting people whose whole worldview seems to be “it’s that the voters are so fucked up that’s the problem, nothing we can do about it *shrug*” to which I’d say - shut the fuck up and go away? The true and obvious purpose of the liberal commentary trying to divert attention away from the political need to legitimize people’s class-based struggles and towards a “we’ve gotta become more racist” attitude (add transphobia for 2025) is to shield the ruling class that is responsible for said struggles.

As someone in the vinyl thread said, this is basically a “grail” record for me. I have had an almost irrational love for that cover since it was first shown. This is a great day.

this thread strikes again. Thought I could just casually check and boom. As much as I hate paying this much for a record I already own. Having the originally planned cover kind of makes it feel like a grail?

And probably more importantly, it doesn’t seem like it moved the needle at all with Republicans, which was also apparently the plan. 47% and 43% of Republicans said the Cheney endorsement made them less enthusiastic about Harris! And similar numbers said it made no difference. Fucking predictable ass own goal.

Heard on the Majority Report that Ossoff is being talked about as setting up a run for President in the next election. Speculation was that among other things his vote to stop the arms transfers was a signal (along with being the correct vote) for that being the case.

Opinion | The blurred line between X and the Trump administration Turns out for the “Twitter Files” crew, “creeping authoritarianism” isn’t so creepy when it’s your team doing the creeping. Before, we were told that White House officials’ merely reaching out to social media companies about election misinformation was a democracy-ending threat. Now, the world’s richest man has openly used his platform to boost one candidate, ridden that campaign’s success into the White House himself, and ... crickets. The silence is deafening. There isn’t even a suggestion that Musk should have to divest from his ownership of X. No one expects that. There is no discussion of how Musk set up an entire account on his own platform for his own “Department of Government Efficiency” and gave it a “gray” check mark — denoting it as a verified government entity. The silence or cheers from “Twitter Files” writers and boosters over this merging of private and public interests — which they deemed a threat to Western civilization, when it wasn’t even happening — is credibility-destroying. They were simply a convenient political cudgel, quickly abandoned as soon as an actual government-social media alliance benefited their side. It'd be funny if it wasn't so sad.
