Roots Remain > Word to the Wise > Ancient Kingdom is one of my favorite 3 song runs ever. Jaguar God is unreal as well.

I think I'm somewhat on an island here, but I LOVE Emperor of Sand. I feel like it combines their heaviness with great choruses better than anything they've done up to this point.

The album titling on streaming sites really hurts my organized heart. My last.fm album listen stats are also fucked up because of it.

Not heresy, Mastodon doesn’t have a “bad” album, just some I like more than others. I’d give Once More Around The Sun another chance. I’ve come to love it after revisiting!

Yeah definitely an easy take to be whatever on The Hunter but OMRTS is good. Emperor of Sand definitely brings it back

Jessie's Girl pt. 2 sounds the most like this IMO, but I think Descension's Away We Go is similar, as well as The Pavilion off Vaxis I, and potentially Comatose off Vaxis II.

I actually got an OpenHeart 16 core 4.4mm balanced cable a while back as a throw in item when I was placing an AliExpress order. It was about $20. I didn't get it for this headphone, but it does fit (barely) the 109s. Currently using Qobuz but I did trial Apple Music for a few months and used the Lossless Switcher for sure.

Lol yeah I meant open back, oops. Yes, I am talking about Oratory and I also use SoundSource for EQ, we must have a very similar listening experience, haha.

I love it too. Newness and all, but potentially one of my favorite "poppy" Coheed songs.

Got my 109 Pros in yesterday, what a premium product. Super comfortable and well made. Best bass I've ever heard in an open back out of the box. Do you apply any EQ. I found a subreddit where a guy measures headphones then creates EQ based on the Harman curve. Stock, I find the treble a little too elevated, but after adding his EQ, it's probably the best headphone experience I've ever had.

Awesome, I think that’s a great choice! I still really like mine. Lately I’ve been alternating between them and my old Oppo PM-3s, which I actually like far more than I used to now that I’ve swapped the ear pads with just cheap replacements I found on Amazon. Not sure what that says about my ears/audio standards. My 109 Pros reign supreme though.

I'm not sure if it's heresy with this band or not but I basically pretend everything between Crack the Skye and Emperor of Sand doesn't exist.

Hushed and Grim was great, maybe needed some editing, but my biggest qualm is it sounds like I’m listening to it from inside a tin can.

Juturna and Amulet are the winter albums. OLG came out the summer I turned 16, so it’s one of my favorite summer albums.

Each time I listen through the singles, it grows on me little by little. I still don't like it anywhere near as close to the others, but it's a fun little 2 minute detour. I'll probably feel more that way in the context of the album.

Man, Andrew feels fully indoctrinated by DGD. This combined with some of his "edgy" lyrics on the new Eidola makes this so much more disappointing.

Yeah on a shortlist of the most unique songs in their discog, even though it's not my favorite. Evagria and Number City are the other two that immediately come to mind. Man, Afterman rules.

I typically view The Afterman as one collective album considering that it’s a double-album written/recorded during the same time period that someone in the band (I think Claudio) said was only split in half to make it more digestible for the listeners

Alright I can say this since Claudio covered Welcome to New York, but there's something very Swift-like happening during that bridge.

Very minor tidbit: I just saw that they called this album X on social media. I guess they view Afterman as one album, so I will choose to do the same anytime I'm ranking the discog.

Has that Robbers/Sex/s/t sheen from the 1975 also what a fucking incredible song, didn’t think they had something like this in them. It’s a perfection of what they were going for on The Color Before the Sun

The song is great, feels pretty unique in their discog. I can't remember the last time they were quite that poppy, almost 1975 esque, but obviously through a Coheed filter. One of Claudio's better vocal performances, he sounds superb.
