First few times I listened to tv off I thought the line “walk into New Orleans with the etiquette of LA yelling MUSTAAAARD” was about the SB but his flow throughout the 2nd half of that song makes me wonder if it’s a poke at Wayne. He sounds like peak Wayne the way he connects punchlines and rhymes words together.

Wayne is being such a, frankly, little bitch about this situation. Tweeting out "wtf did I do" like he didn't whine and cry in an interview about not getting the Super Bowl spot. Kendrick mentions his disappointment in hearing he whined and cried about it, makes sense. I pray for Wayne's sake that he's not about to do some dumb shit in the booth considering his output in the last 10-ish years

My argument would be that I don't think there's anything more inherently "sensible" about a review (or post) saying it's an incredible and one of the best albums (like say that Stereogum piece) vs saying something may grow on you. I find both positions totally sensible on a spectrum of fandom and music experience. Said another way: Moderation of emotion isn't inherently more sensible/right/more likely to be right for one's reaction to art. Each reaction can be just as a real, and one isn't more right/more wrong because of the strength of that emotion. If your enjoyment of a piece of art gets graphed over time, you may see dips, peaks, valleys, but probably never a flat line for something you end up listening to often. I don't think anyone at any point on that journey is more or less sensible. (My second argument might be those experiencing and expressing that ride are probably more attuned to their thoughts and feelings on the music.) Edit: And this is, funny enough, something that's kind of an evolution of my own thinking on how I view albums/fitting into my musical history/pantheon, etc. over time. Definitely now how I would have viewed things 20 years ago.

I kinda see this as a pseudo-sequel to GKMC. With how upfront some of the samples are I feel like this is that same kid driving around listening to the radio and rhyming over everything he hears.
