I will concede that he did sound better on the older two albums maybe, but he has his moments, especially on Song for Isabelle.

Does anyone get SUPER emotional during Song for Isabelle or is that just me?

I don't think any PtV song makes emotional...

Then again, I have a really hard time feeling emotion (especially through indirect ways like art) so I think that's more on me than PtV.

Song for Isabelle let me down on so many levels, especially after Hold On Till May. It's less cheesy but also infinitely less emotional.

Really? Hold On Til May is alright, and the lyrics about train shaking windows is cool because that happens to my house sometimes. But SFI just sounds like a vast improvement to me.

Haha, I just listen to PtV for the awesome riffs. They've never had a hold on my heartstrings and probably never will. Vic has the emotional life of an anime character.

I mostly just listen to this band because it's my girlfriend's favorite. Vic has some good lyrical moments (mostly on Flair...), but for the most part his writing is kind of just whatever to me. It's not bad most of the time, but it's also not particularly good.

Also, did not mean to bring you down at all with that last comment. I think it's awesome that PtV has the effect on their fans. Just doesn't with me, that's all.

Haha, no offense taken! I actually agree, it's mostly for catchy vocals, great riffs, and I totally love energetic whatever-core like this when it works and has a lot of cool ideas. I think that song hit me so much because I wasn't expecting to feel much to a PTV album. That "All we are are parking lots and nowhere to go" line got to me too because my teenage self never fully died as I entered my 20s and I remember romanticizing stuff like that. I guess I'm trying to say I just got exactly what he was going for with some lines and it really affected me.

You know, you have inspired me to re-listen to that song now.

I hope it clicks for you more, and the rest of the album does too.

Just found the Pierce the Veil album before Pierce the Veil (Before Today's "A Celebration of an Ending") at a used media store. hahah This really does sound like a first try at Pierce the Veil. Not bad, not great, has it's moments though. It's like an album of Texas is Forever type songs.

If you like Texas is Forever you can probably find at least some enjoyment in it. The album does sound a bit rough though.

    SAME. don't see it leaving...ever...
Hmm, nice, I dont have high hopes, but I'll check it out.

EDIT: the middle section of Shallow Pockets is really sweet. Not done yet, but it's not the easiest thing to listen to because of the lack of variation, but it's pretty cool to see where they came from

Anyone catch them on their current tour? I saw the NYC show the other night, pretty great and the crowd was wild

Even though it's ten years old, their debut holds up soooo well.

I'd be impressed by the debut if it came out this year TBH. Selfish Machines is definitely my favorite, but it's probably got their weakest closer.

The Sky and The Sea shreds man!!!!! I love it way more than their "emotional/slow" closers
